Spray some brake cleaner into the existing pad/caliper area FIRST to wash any brake dust away.(being careful of painted surfaces) Take a thin "putty knife" and GENTLY pry the inboard and outboard brake pads away from the brake rotor/disc as far as they will go. Then with a 12pt 1/4" socket, remove the 2 pad retention pins from the caliper's face and let the pads fall out of the caliper's body, being careful to take notice of the pads themselves (they are slightly different) Slide the new pads up into the caliper body one at a time. This will require a little force as there is a spring inside the caliper body. Then you can re-insert the retention pins and snug them down firmly (do not over tighten) Double check your work, use a falshlight if necessary. Make SURE the pads are in place and you have adequate brake pedal "pressure". The bleeding of the caliper might be necessary. If you are wary of this procedure, please have qualifed persons do this critical work.

Stuck rear caliper on my 2003 road king classic


Did u try bleeding the brake lines and flushing them? It just might me some dirt in there if that doesn't work you might have to replace it?

2011 harley davidson road knig classic. Ou to nowhere I have NO rear brakes...pedal totally loose. full of fluid & bled lines with steady flow @ rear cap, when tightened, loose pedal & no brakes....any...


On idea that comes to mind id it seems Harley has been having a problem with the rear brake light switch leaking, causing exactly what you describe, plus sometime fluid sprayed under pressure and smoking when sprayed on hot engine parts.

My back brake lights stay on my 2005 road king classic.


That will be either the front or rear switch sticking, first try unpluging the front brake light switch, with this disconected if the light stays on the problem is with the rear switch, locate the switch this will be close to the brake pedal normal spring opperated which can stick, check it is closing fully, you may also disconnect the switch and check the light goes out reconnect the front switch and check correct opperation, this would thenpoint the fault towards the rear switch

Rear brake light not workiing


There are two brake light switches. One is in the right handlebar switch housing. This is front brake light switch and is a simple push button type switch actuated by the front brake lever.

The other switch is a pressure switch and it is located in a Tee usually somewhere under the bike near the rear of the transmission. Follow the metal tube coming out of the rear of the master cylinder. It will go back towards the rear brake. Somewhere in that line there will be a tee with the pressure switch in it. If you jumper across this switch, the brake light should work. If it does work when you do this but not work when you depress the rear brake signal, replace the rear brake light switch.

Rear brake not holding pressure , pedal goes to the floor


Is your rear rotor warped? if the rotor is warped it will push the pads out causing you to have to pump them to stop.Remember the dot 5 is aeroscopic. if you shake or drop the bottle of fluid, you cannot use it for at least 24 hours. it will continue to create air in itself for that long. so even if you bleed the system correctly it will continue to introduce air into the system.
