I have a 2002 harley sportster, which has a buell crank. I need a flange nut which holds the primary pulley onto the shaft, HD part no 7839, I would like to know if the buell uses the same nut please

Harley sells all of those still - go to the parts counter and order it.

SOURCE: Hi i have bought a

I have had two Buell Ulysses from a Brisbane Harley Dealer and have put a total of 80 000km on the two of them. I can tell you that if you have an after-market exhaust installed (EG Jardine, etc) then surging and backfires are the name of the game. Power Commander and other replacement EFCs are not the answer either (because no proper solution was in place before they stopped Buell's production). I do run a Jardine on my current model and putting in the noise limiter has made for smoother running. Also...Buell's are subect to vibration in the bars. I installed anti-vibration weights in the bar-ends and voila'...no vibration...just great as I can now see my speedometer...LOL. I hope any of this is of some use to you. I LOVE my Buell. I've been riding over 50yrs, I've owned dozens of bikes, motorcycles are my daily ride and this is my favourite machine (followed close behind by my Hayabusa).

I have oil leaking from the primary cover beside the pulley that drives the belt What needs to be done to replace the gasket 1996 Harley fxdwg

The INNER primary cover has an oil seal where the transmission shaft goes through.
You'll need to tear down the entire primary drive to get the inner cover off.
Some notes:
The engine sprocket nut is 160-180 Ft/Lbs of torque, with RED LocTite!
This is going to take some power to break it loose (think impact wrench)
The central nut holding on the clutch pack is a LEFT HAND thread!

Need to know how to get off outer primary cover off of 1979 harley davidson

Lower the primary chain adjuster under the primary but loosening the locknut and turning the adjuster screw downwards. Take the large nut that holds the foot peg on off. Take all the bolts out around the primary. Take the round inspection cover off at the clutch and remove the spring and lock nut out. Turn the clutch adjuster screw in there clockwise until the primary cover comes off.

Scottysgraphics@hotmail.com how to change starter on 2002 buel x1 whitelightning i need help

First off, I don't have a lot of experience with Buells but I do know Sportsters and a Buell uses a Sportster engine basically. To remove the starter, you must drain the primary and remove the primary cover. You will probably have to loosen the primary chain adjuster underneath the primary cover. The two bolts that hold the starter on are inside the primary just above the clutch. There is a long bolt and a short bolt. Disconnect the battery cable from the battery negative post before you begin and then disconnect the positive cable from the starter. You'll have to remove whatever is necessary to get access to the starter from the right side of the bike. I hope this helps,

Good Luck

Under torque my 2002 1200 sportster sounds like the primary is skiping and make s clanking noise i have checked the primary chain adjustment and its fine it only has 800 mi on it

The large nut on the compensator sprocket may be loose causing the problem. I am a bit confused though. You aren't clear about what has 800 miles on it. Does the bike, a 2002 model, only have 800 miles on it or does the new primary chain have 800 miles on it? Either way, if it's doing this, I'd pull the primary cover off and check everything inside the primary.

Good luck
