SOURCE: 96 rm 250 clutch not working

Go to the site below where you can see a parts diagram for your specific bike. You will select the actual brand, year, model, etc., once you go to the site. Part numbers and prices are also shown. You can order parts from this site. In the event no price is shown on a particular part, the part is not in stock. www.babbittsonline.com/pages/parts/viewbybrandand/parts.aspx

Look at the clutch diagram on the Babbit's site. Chances are that the "E" ring #14 was not put on the clutch rack #13 that the pinion shaft #16 engages to pull the pressure plate #8 outward, disengaging the clutch. Without the E-ring the rack can fall inside the clutch and is unable to pull the clutch plates apart. This is likely to be where the problem is. By the way, look at the sequence all the parts are to be installed in. Does your clutch assembly match that sequence? Let me know what you find.

Can I fit a SUZUKI RM 250 Engine into a 2000 RM 125 frame?

Hi, Anthony sounds like something I would try when I was a kid but after careful deliberation 4 out 5 Suzuki Gods give this one a thumbs down, but just to be on the safe side you should give your local dealer's parts/service department a call to confirm it's just not worth the time trouble and expense you would be better off getting a used 250 bike. I have a Suzuki rm 125 2005 model and ran it wide open to long and now acts like its flooded... already took Carb apart to clean figured float was stuck found a piece of dirt so I put it back together and...

Does the engine have good compression? The ring in a 125 does not last very long - the bike could be down on compression pressure. Re-ring it.

Is your air filter clean? I've seen them so filthy that they were actually brittle. Check your air filter.

How about your spark plug? They do burn out. Replace with a new one.

If it's loaded up, pull the plug, hold the throttle wide open and kick the snot out of it about 20 times, then put a fresh plug in it and try it again.

Good luck!

Gear/clutch problem

does not seem like the waterpump. is the clutch set too loose?
usually in wire based clutches, if the clutch cable is set to be too loose, or if it is frayed, and needs replacement, the bike will jump and stall.
check that.
