I'm pretty sure that model has the master cylinder under the floor board on the right side. The brake fluid reservior is in on the down tubes in the front of the frame behind the front wheel. Follow the tube from that reserviour down to where ever the master cylinder is. You'll find it.

I hit something in the road last night that tore the brake fluid reservoir off of the rear master cylinder. I have ordered a new master cylinder; I've never changed one out before.

No problem, just change the old one out with the new one, fill the master cylinder reservior and bleed the brakes. To bleed the brakes, do this in EXACTLY this order. Fill the master cylinder. Press the rear brake pedal and hold it down. Open the bleeder valve on the rear caliper and allow brake fluid and air to bleed out. Close the bleeder valve. Let off on rear brake pedal. Repeat process until you have a full firm pedal. Do not allow the master cylinder to run dry during the bleeding process.

Break light doesnt work on back break only works on front

The rear brake light is operated by a pressure switch located underneath the bike. Find the metal brake line that comes out of the master cylinder and heads back towards the rear wheel. Somewhere in the line there is a "tee fitting" with the pressure switch screwed into it. Replace this switch.

Rear brake pedal will not return, brake remains engaged

Sounds like it's time to rebuild your rear master cylinder or something needs lubricating. The rear brake pedal should have a rather large spring on it. If so and it's not returning to position, you need to take the pedal off and lubricate the pivot post.

Now, if your pedal is returning but the master cylinder is not releasing, it's time for a rebuild. There is a spring inside the master cylinder that pushes the piston back. But, if the master cylinder is all crudded up on the inside, it can't push it back. This could be caused by mixing DOT5 and DOT4 brake fluid.

Rear brake will not keep its prime

a bent disc or bad wheel bearing can push the pads back, and you need to pump it for the brakes to work, or it requires a seal kit in the rear brake master cylnder
