Question about kawasaki KZ 1300 A4 Motorcycles

2 Answers

Hi, I have a 2005 concours kawasaki 25K miles on it problem: it has a problem shifting , from 1 - 3 grinds gears , dos'ne want to smothly shift in and out, this goes for up shifting or down shifting. I am not familar with kawasaki prouducts, always rode HD, I'm wondering? could the shifting be out of adjustable? or could it be a symtom of another problem, Thanks Sincerely, Marty Olsen

I would check the clutch adjustment first thing. It sounds a lot like a clutch that's not fully engaging to me.

If it grinds only in one spot it is not the clutch.

125cc Kawasaki dirt bike, cranks on first kick, idles but won't run in any gear, doesn't die out but doesn't seem to engage gear, possible problems?

Does it jerk forward when you put it into gear and die? Or you put it into gear and the bike doesn't move when you let the clutch out? Badly adjusted clutch in both cases. Worst case, you need new clutch plates and springs.

I have a 1997 kawasaki vulcan 1500 classic it grind going into 2nd gear and under heavy throttle it will kick out of gear i was told it is the shift fork but my shift lever is really loose i need to know...

Your shift lever should be able to be tightened, even if not, as long as the bike goes into gear than its doing its job, if it grinds and jumps out as you say than it is more than likely your shift/selector fork

My sons klx 110 grinds when downshifting

While sitting still the gears are not moving. This sounds like a slightly bent shift fork. In the diagram below the slider gear moves left and right to engage the gears. The gear "dogs" fit into holes cast into the stationary gears. The grinding takes place as the fork moves the slider into first gear but the dogs are not getting moved the full distance needed to fully engage the gear because of the bent fork. The center case must be split to gain access to the gears and shift forks.

A “very helpful” rating for this answer? Thanks!
