Remove the dip stick(right side of bike) for free flow, drain plug is under rear swing arm bottom of frame, not the one under primary, once drained, remove oil filter in frount of motor(u might need a special iol filter wrench), u will get oil on motor, cover with something. once all drained, fill at dipstick till where it is at full mark on stick(about 3 1/2 qaurts). run bike foe about 10 min., then shut off and recheck, add more if needed.

Where is the oil drain plug on the 88 c.i.H.D.2003

On all Softail models, look along the bottom of the oil tank from the right side of the bike. You'll see a line or hose going downward towards the transmission. Usually, unless the changed something, the line will come out along the frame down below and behind the transmission. There will be a plug in the end of the line. Remove the plug to drain the oil.

Good luck
Steve

Dealer's usually tell you the amount you need if the bike is completely empty. Take a turkey baster and remove some oil, ride the bike and check the oil level again. I have seen to much oil blow the dip stick out and cover everything with oil and I have seen the oil tank split.
