Question about Yamaha WR 450 F Motorcycles

1 Answer

My headlight and horn dont seem to work at all. I have checked the wiring loom which seems to be fine. I was wondering if this model has a glitch or what the problem may be? Thanks.

If you have power at the light and the head light does not light check the plug where it connects to head ligts you can check bulb or light it up off a battery charger if it lights you have a bad connection test the connecter with a 12volt test light if it has power check it for ground your horn not workinking may be a bad horn it can olso be checked with battery charger if horn is powering up but not blowing smack it sevaral times while holding the horn button somtimes the diafram in them hang up from not being used regular

I'd try the fuse as well if you haven't already tried that.

Assuming all wire harnesses are stock and loomed from the factory it sounds like a frayed power wire making contact to your frame somewhere. Chasing wiring is never fun. Start from the headlamp bucket and work through them looking for fray or broken wire loom. Could be a lead touching the frame or ground wire connection somewhere in its path. Sometimes its as easy as within the headlight bucket itself. Goodluck

Headlight out, driving lights out, fog lights out... but directional front and rear lights work fine as does the brake light work fine. there just does'nt seem to be any electric going to those lights up...

ok could be a couple things here. Im having a memory issue at the moment so first Im gonna tell ya to check the light on your front fender if it has one?
If so and that light is out as well then run your fingers up the inside of the front fender on the right side of the tire. Have the wires from the fender tip light been rubbing on the tire and now are bare and shorted out?
Second at least if the fender tip light wires are ok or you dont have a fender tip light would be to simply click your hi/low beam light switch. Do you have a high beam and just not a low beam? If so its the bulb in the headlight because its blown out on the low beam side. Replace the headlight and then youll have your passing lamps and your fog lamps back as well since those circuits all get there power from the low beam circuit of the headlight. Good luck and let me know what you find.

Electrical short, No headlight, no horn, no turn signals

may have burnt a wire inside the wiring loom, use multi meter to check each wire continuity, or perhaps jump a wire from + battery to the positive horn wire.
use a fuse on the jump wire in case of short.
If this work then definate break in loom

Broken headlights, horn, and cruise control.

I know it sounds daft, but have the bulbs you changed got the same contact formation as the ones you took out, if not it is possable they are now causing a short circuit.

Merecedes sprinter 313 cdi. horn not working.

The wiring loom that runs down the front near the radiator and intercooler is prone to rubbing and corroding and shorting out. Check this loom.

If it is in bad shape i'd recommend replacement as the turbo boost sensor wiring and some of the headlamp wiring is in this loom also, and these can cause costly problems and cause the turbo to fail if not replaced.
