What causes an error mssage of: Restart now or key is needed in a Ford Edge.

Driving 4. Start - press the START/STOP button (for any length of time) while applying the brake pedal. Note: The indicator light on the start button will illuminate when the vehicle is in on mode and when the engine is started. There may be areas inside your vehicle where the IA key is not detected. If the message NO KEY DETECTED appears on your message center when you press the START/STOP button, it may be necessary to move your IA key to another area within the vehicle. The IA key may not be detected near the roof (between the driver or passenger sunvisor and the roof, or in the overhead console area) or in the extreme corners of the rear package tray, near your audio speakers. It is not recommended that you stow the IA key in these locations. If you move the IA key to a location where it has been detected before and you still see the NO KEY DETECTED message, your IA key's battery may be low or you may be in an area with excessive radio frequency interference. If this occurs, you can use the back-up method to start your vehicle (see below). Back-up method of starting: Your IA key uses a radio frequency signal to communicate with your vehicle and authorize your vehicle to start when you press the START/STOP button and apply the brake pedal. If excessive radio frequency interference is present in the area, or if the battery in your IA key is low, it may be necessary to start your car by inserting the IA key in the back-up slot, located at the front of the center console storage compartment. Insert the IA key into the slot with buttons facing down and with key ring out. After inserting the IA key into the back-up slot, use the START/STOP button and brake pedal to start your vehicle as usual. The vehicle should respond normally as long as the IA key is in the back-up slot. Once the vehicle is started, the IA key can be removed from the back-up slot, if desired. Fast restart feature: The Fast Restart feature allows you to re-start your vehicle within 20 seconds of switching the vehicle off, if a valid IA key is not present when the vehicle is switched off. Battery draining on suzuki S83 boulevard - can ride it for a couple of hours then it just cuts out

Sounds like you need to check the generator and charging circuit.

The bike will start and run on the battery alone until it is drained.

Once a bike has been started the battery power is taken over by the generators power this also replenishes the power lost in the battery when the bike is initially started. If the generator does not generate power the bike will continue to us the power from the battery until it is exhausted and will therefore stop.
A simple test is to turn the bike ignition on and turn the headlamp on (check the brightness of the lamp) Start the bike and re check the brightness of the head lamp, it should be a little brighter if the generator is working. Another test is carried out with the use of a voltage tester (multi meter). Set on dc volts test the batteries voltage eg 12vdc, start the bike and re test the voltage should be around 13 - 14v dc if the charging circuit is working

New Battery in Bike, turn the key and nothing happens.

Get a test light probe so you can follow the power lead from the battery to the fuses. It will show you where power is getting to and where it isn't.

When I push the start button the bike does not start. The key is on and the lights come on the turn signals work but when you push the start button you get nothing not even a click. Is it possible that...

I would check out a few other things first, a bad solenoid still clicks, How about the kickstand switch, working? Stuck on?, how about the kill switch? On? The bike will not crank in gear. Make sure it is in neutral. If those check out, then start looking at other things, like the oil level? The relay from the battery to the starter can come loose. The wires at the starter itself, loose?Corroded?. Anti theft device activated? Check it out, Hope this helps.

1999 800vs replaced battery when key is turned on to start bike all lights on speedometer light up should be just green neutral.bike just clicks will not turnover

Actually when the key is turned on all the "dash" lights come on neutral, oil, temp and what ever else as soon as the bike starts the lights will go out. If the lights come on while the engine is running then you have a problem or it's in neutral "green".

For the bike not starting a few things, first off the battery even though you say it's new may have been sitting on the shelf for a while and they do loose power so it may need charging. The newer bikes the headlight light comes on when the key is turned on which robs the starting system of power to turn the starter, the batteries need to be good on these bikes or it's just not going to work. If the headlight comes on and looks yellow or amber then there isn't enough power in the battery. If it's a nice bright white light then there is power and the starter may need to be serviced.

If the bike has been sitting over the winter I'd guess the battery has just lost power and requires charging.

Cheers be safe and have fun with your motorcycle

No electrical power to my bike.

Try another Ignition switch to see if any power is available. Unfortunately this is a problem that can't be solved here, wiring is something that needs to be diagnosed by someone working on the bike.

Have an 2000 kawasaki zx750 that wont start only the neutral light and oil light comes on. Also the headlights wont come on. the bike turns over when i disconnect the fuel pump relay but when i reconnect...

Is the battery dead or dying?

My thought is your battery is 99% dead. When you disconnect the load you descrive, there is 1% of the battery trying to do what you want.

Remove the battery from the bike and have it tested at a auto parts or motorcycle parts place. If you can do a hydro test on it, you can do that test. A good reading ia 1200. Put a small charger on it if you like. Im guessing it is not worth charging but try just the same. That way, when you plunk your hard earned $ down for a new battery, you will not feel bad.

Let me know what happens

thanks
