I have a 99 YZ80 I put an 04 85 in and used the stator n n rotor out of. It runs great but only wants to go backwards. I've tried adjusting the stator but nothing? WHY

Its more than likely because the stator in the 80 is designed different so that the point of ignition is advanced to compared to the ignition on the 04. Try to retard the ignition as far as you can if that don't work you can either buy the right stator or file the holes for the screws wider so you can turn it more.

Need to replace my stator on 99 zr arctic cat

Remove rewind then flywheel.Lower rewind housing bolt may be a little tough to get out being its on the bottom.Flywheel needs to removed with standard 3-bolt puller and may make a load pop when comes loose.Housing around stator needs to be removed,4 allen bolts hold this in place.Do not install flywheel until stator housing is bolted back in place. After you removed everything be sure to check and see if hood harness was routed under rewind housing because in the past a few had the wires smashed from engine pinching wires between stator housing and main frame.Best place to buy stator from is Dennis Kirk,$213,just did one on my 99 ZL600.

Can anyone help with tuneup speci's for DRZ-250 1985 model

The stator should be ok if not touched. Change plugs. If stator has been moved buy a shop manual and follow directions

Buying 1983 aspencade motorcycle , what problems

I have goldwings since 1980. They are very reliable. First thing I would change is the timing belt. (If it fails, bent valves...) As far as the stator, the normal fix for these 4 cylinder early ones (if they are still working) is to cut the 3 wire plug in between the stator & wiring harness & solder the leads together. Dirt, water, corrosion in this connection makes the stator fail. Make sure your carbs are clean and final drive & ft bearings are re-greased. Next problem that occurs that you can check for is oil seal in front forks. You can remove them & put new seals in by yourself if you have the tools. You should have lots more trouble free mileage if bike has been properly maintained. Rick
