6months back a night when i was riding my bike in rain it stopped suddenly by indicating some engine error.it didn't start again so i had to push it for starting it. next day morning it started normally without any problem and that day it was no rain. from that day onwards it used to stop in similar way when it was raining. a week back it stoped completly.i have taken my r15 to nearer yamaha showroom. they kept bike with them for a day and told me it was battery problem . so i brought a new battery and it had run for 12 km and problem reappears. the battery had discharged from 12.5v to 8v. so i put the battery for charging and after that it started and began to run without any problem till the battery gets discharged.what is the problem with my bike?
I have same problem. I was going some where and bike was not running smooth. Sometimes it was giving JERK. After some Kilometers it stopped suddenly after giving Yellow light. Then i tried to start it after 15 minutes it started. Service person changed charger but problem is still there.
Can anyone tell me the reason?

Hi there!
dont give up on it yet. the CDI costs much! This sounds like a wiring problem. I've had the same problem before but i checked and traced the wiring and found out that the positive lead wire is making contact with the chassis.. due to vibration and just, it must have eaten the insulator. Check on this part. Also, make sure that your carb jets and spark plugs are clean.
-hope this gives you an idea.

If the bike has sat for a long period of time without being run - the gas that is sitting in the carb(s) will shellac.. Then the carb(s) would need to be cleaned and "rebuilt"..
SOURCE: good evening sir, I have
1998 to 2002 have problem with plug to voltage regulator/rectifier which is under seat. connectors in plug overheat and bike stops charging the battery. you will see if connectors have been hot and will need to be replaced if they have.
once replaced check bike charging with multimeter at battery, should make 13.5 - to 14.5 volts just above idle. if not will need to test stator and regulator.
