Question about Honda VT 600 C Shadow Motorcycles

Hi I have a 2003 Honda Shadow Motor Cycle with 1200 Miles. I started the bike up today and rode it about 10 miles. I then turn it of went into my mom house spent about an hour came out back , I then turn my ignition switch on. Everything turn on as it suppose to , I then hit the start button and everything went blank. I have no power when I turn my ignition switch on. I chk all fuse and they are good . I really need help on this.

    the main fuse appears to be loose. when I take the fuse box off I cannot see where the fuse is supposed to plug into. The bike will turn over but not start

You may have a loose or dirty battery connection it sounds like it or a bad battery

Honda shadow dies


Try clearing your Carby breather tubes. If you live near mud-dauber wasp country they love to build nests in the lines. This creates a vacuum in the tank. a simple fix is to open the tank filler cap for a moment then see if you can restart. This might keep you going a bit longer.

voltage regulator probably,intermittent problem or alternator diode burned .Ask a mechanic to check your voltage and your flowing current in the system while idling

Intermittent loss of electrics on st1300 pan european abs model 2005


Hi, Andy and the usual suspects are:
1. Severely discharged or a damaged battery, should have 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary your battery may have a cursory reading of 12.5 volts or more but has little or zero amperage and needs to be replaced AGM types more so than lead acid batteries.
2. Faulty alternator/generator and or voltage regulator.
3. Loose or corroded battery terminals and or cables especially the "NEGATIVE" cable, look for loose, corroded, or broken connectors inside the cable harness at "BOTH" ends.
4. Faulty main circuit breaker or ignition switch, check for loose connections and continuity.
5. Faulty system and or ignition relay, check for continuity.
6. Faulty ignition coil, ignition/electronic module.
7. Faulty CKP, CPS, CMP, MAP, TPS, or BAS sensor, corroded, loose or broken wire connector pins/sockets.
8. Throttle cables and or idle speed improperly adjusted hot idle speed should be 950 RPM to 1000 RPM.
9. Faulty neutral, side stand or clutch lever safety switch.
10. Fuel tank empty
11. Fuel tank contaminated with ethanol sludge.
12. Water or dirt in the fuel system, or clogged filter.
13. Restricted, blocked or kinked fuel line.
14. Faulty fuel pump.
15. Faulty pressure regulator.
16. Faulty or clogged fuel injectors.
17. Lean angle switch is faulty or needs adjustment.

99 shadow 750 ace w/4k bought on friday bike sat so i changed oil/filter with honda approved products flushed cooling system checked all fluids and rode about a total of 65 miles performed great all...


Remove starter from engine leaving the wire conected, earth out the strter to the engine and pres the starter button, if the starter spins, it is likely you have a starter clutch problem, this test will eliminate the starter being at fault, presume u have checked battery condition

Bike won't start


try a push start. if it starts go to autozone an purchase a can of Seafoam $10 pour 1/3 can into two gallons off gas an get on it right away get some high speeds in once in awhile..it night take about 10 miles before you will see a difference.

hi no way all the guy wants is money any good guy has the right test gear and would test all the charging /starter compnants before replacing the whole caboose buy youself a small cheap volt meter £5/£8 check the battery voltage start motor needle should go up to around 14 put lights on needle should not drop if this is ok then rr and stator is ok stop motor leave lights on if voltage drops rapidly battery is us hope this helps merlinv12

No spark


I too have a 1087 Honda Shadow and after we rebuilt, cleaned and painted the bike, it would not spark.

Behind the battery, check the CDI box. Look inside and shake upside down, looking for the presence of water. Once we completley dried out the unit. The bike runs like a champ.

the other day I rode in the rain for 160 miles. Engine died. Went to the CDI, water was there. Dried it out and again the bike runs fine. I am going to seal my cdi unit now. and hopefully the problem will not come back.
