Your coils should be running 1 and 4 and 2 and 3, so the 1 and 4 is shot. Look on ebay for a pair, or borrow one to see if that is the problem Should be it.They go bad. Hope this helps.

replace the fuel
clean the carbs
change the oil
new plugs
clean air filter
check the valve clearances( if any are really wide a valve may be stuck open)
I assume you have already fitted a new battery

Do u know the firing order for a 89 suzuki

89 Katana uses two coils, one fires cylinders 1 and 4 together and the other fires 2 and 3 together. It's a waste spark system. So your firing order is either one coil or the other every revolution.

Timing & firing issues

G'day. I can help you here! On all early model japanese 4 cylinder motorcycles,
number 1 & 4 cylinders share one coil( the left hand coil as seen while sitting on bike). Number 2 & 3 cylinders shares the other.

L/H coil- 1 & 4
R/H coil-2 & 3

Hope this helps

#1 and #4 coil not firing.it is a 2002 600 katana

check pulse coil generator system...i had a similar problem and found out that one of the two pickups was burnt. mine was on the left side of the bike under side case cover but i just followed the wire harness up till i got to the first disconnect and ohmd out the four wires looking for 400-450 ohms...well i only got 136ohms on one and the other was completely open. Also make sure your getting 12v to the coil... turn key on and just probe the little wires on the coil till you find it. then you'll know that its not a broken wire at least. Can i get some feed back, Thanks!

I need the firing order for an 88 katana gsx600f The cables are marked 1-2-3-4 but im not sure if its left to right or mixed

EASY WAY TO TEST THIS IS TO PUT A ROD IN THE CYLINDER NORMALLY IT FIRST FIRES THE 2 OUTER CYLINDER THEN THE MIDDLE 2 BUT PUT A ROD IN THE OUTER ONES THEN IN THE MIDDLE IF THERE ALL AT THE SAME HEIGHT THEN THAT MEANS THAT THEY FOR 1,4-2,3 GET BACK TO ME WITH RESULTS
