Question about 2003 Suzuki RM 125

Is the 1988 suzuki as power full as the new rm 125 the rm 1988 has fmf pipe new procircuit shocks back and front new topend rebuilt carberater and new sprocket 13 teeth and new air filter barings back and front and brake calipers front and back it can beat a crf 150 but will it beat a 125 rm

That is a hard question to answer. A stock 1988 will not beat a 2010. If you have motor work done and suspension set up right it might run with a new one. The technology is far superior in the new bikes. A stock new motor is far more powerful than an old bike. The suspension is where you will get alot of your speed also. The new stock suspensions are darn near race ready with minimal tweeking.

Just rebuilt top end starts up fine , but the motor cuts out when you give it gas. runs Ok at topend but taking off on even the slightest up hill it just quits. I cleaned the carb but it has not helped???...


Kinda sounds like a problem I had some years back with a Honda. We checked everything and finally found a small hole in the carb boot. It was running fine at idle, but when taking off at full throttle it would **** out. We replaced the boot and clamps and it ran like new.

I hope this gives you an idea of what to look for.

it wouldn't be the thermostat unless you have it installed backwards. you can gain a **** load more power by putting in a performance camshaft and a full pipe.

Front forks will not push down at all,how do u adjust softness? and rear is so soft that it bottoms out on jumps,how do u ajust?

wrench or hand turn rear mono shock. Extend the shock for more resistance. Are the front forks air or gas? If they are not pushing down then the rebound is problem bottomed out , air valve on top of forks

Best bet si to run a compression check on the cylinder. Not sure how many pounds of compression for this bike, but a local bike shop will tell you.

Clean and dry the air filter? Go back to a stock main jet, at least to check things out? Are "O" ring seals on the main jet going bad?Partial internal collapse in exhaust (remove exhaust pipe & do a quick run down the alley), Install a new stock NGK spark plug, Be sure battery connections are clean and tight, Be sure intake manifold and carb are good and tight.

on the back mono shock, there is adjustment the raise it up a little bit. The front are usually a gsa type shock, and you can put air into some of them to raise the front.
