AUTO GEAR THE SERVICE MANUAL DOES NOT REQUIRE TO CHANGE GEAR OIL AND FILTER ,BUT TIME AND USAGE OF THE CAR MAKES THE OIL FITLY AND EVAPORATE EVEN IN CLOSE GEARS.SO CHANGING REFRESH THE GEAR SHIFTING USUALLY SOLVES THE PROBLEM IF ITS NO TOO LATE ADV. CHANGE GEAR OIL EVERY OTHER SERVICE SCHEDULE.

2001 Kia rio automatic but it sounds like a standard, like I need to shift gears. Transmission ????

If it doesnt shift at proper speeds when its driving, then yes, the transmission. Make sure the fluid is full when engine at operating temp., idle. in park. If it's full, and no obvious shifter linkage problems, then you need to have it looked at by a transmission shop.

2001 Kia Rio clutch given out?

your clutch wheel is completely burnt out do not try to drive your car anymore if you do you will damage the fly wheel. if you have the experience you can order a clutch kit that comes with clutch wheel pressure plate and throwout bearing and install it yourself. if not then it is a very difficult job and you will need to have it worked on in an auto shop. for info and repairs for your car go to autozone.com sign up its free then click on repair manuals you will find all of your info there....good luck
