Usually, if you lift the rear of the seat and pull back, it will come loose.

How do you get the seat off a 2008 Harley Davidson Sportster to change the battery

Hi, Jim seat removal can range from the simple and obvious to the complex and baffling for the novice new Harley Davidson owner. Seems like the more expensive the bike is the harder it is to remove the seat. So let's start with the most expensive. 99% of all Harley seats have a male tongue in the front that slides into a female receiver that is either bolted or welded to the frame just behind the fuel tank. For this reason, whenever you are removing a seat you must always slide it backward 3-5 inches For Heritage Softails check for a bolt on each side usually under a flap on the seat. Then there is the seat strap that is secured on both sides, only one side needs to be removed. A single screw can secure it to the rear fender or it may have a bracket with two studs secured by nuts or knobs to fasten the rear portion of the seat. For Sportsters if you have a pillion pad or passenger seat that snugs up against the front seat there can be a screw securing the two to the rear fender, you have to get your hand in between the two seats and force the separation of seat material to see and gain access to the screw. For Touring bikes, there is the rear seat screw in the back that is the caboose of seat fasteners, usually a large chrome bracket, that screws into the rear fender. Care must be exercised in covering this shiny bauble with your hand during the sliding back procedure so as to "NOT" scratch the tour pack. So when all the hidden and mysterious fasteners have been removed, you need to lift it up in the rear, slide it backward a few inches and bingo you have mastered the impossible.

Remove the seat to a harley 2008 custom 1200 roadster

If it is a double seat all you do is unscrew the screw at the back of the seat that goes into the rear fender. Then push the whole seat forward and lift to disengage the seat from the horn post (for lack of what they actually call it) and then pull back away form the take to free the tang that fits under the seat.

Remove the seat of the 2008 harley sportster

Usually don't have to remove the battery via the seat area. The battery should be accessible via the left side cover. Grab both sides of the side cover at the top. Pull out and down so that it will swing down. The battery is right behind that. Remove the battery restraining strap bolt at the bottom and swing up to unhook from the top. Pull out just enough to disconnect the cables from the + side of the battery (being careful not to touch the wrench or anything to the frame in the process). Move the leads you just disconnected clear of the battery and then slide out the battery just enough to be able to unscrew the leads from the - terminal. Then just slide the battery out the rest of the way.

Show me fuse box sportster 2006 harley

Hi Jeremy, 1998 and later Sportster models circuit breaker and fuses were located in an electrical bracket behind the starter relay and data link that was mounted behind the left side panel. 1997 and earlier circuit breakers only no fuses were located under the seat and for a free wiring diagram please visit the website below and good luck.Harley Davidson Wiring Diagrams and Schematics

Sportster 883c 2006, have no rear lights of any kind all front lights work

There should be a sub harness that plugs up under the seat. If you have no lights at all, this plug may have come loose or the wires underneath the fender have been damaged.

Good Luck

I just want to change the battery on my sportster ,1200, 2002 how do i get the seat off, or do i need to?

yes, you really need to remove the seat. Although I am not familiar with your particular model, most Sportster seats are held on by a single bolt screwed into the rear fender at the very back of the seat. Remove the bolt, lift the rear end of the seat slightly, and pull it to the rear. There is a tang on the front of the seat that slips under the frame. Once out, you should be able to see the battery and the strap that holds the top battery cover down. Loosen the nut and remove the hold down strap and battery top cover. Remove the rubber strap that holds the battery into the tray. Disconnect the negative cable first when removing the battery. When installing the battery connect the negative cable last.

Good Luck
