Question about 2003 Suzuki RM 125

Clutch not engaging

Hi I'm relatively new to the two stroke world and I have a question on my 2002 Suzuki RM125. My clutch isn't engaging. When I put my bike in 1st either the bike dies or if I goose it will just go foward like I'm not even pulling in the clutch. Please help I ride sports bikes I really don't know about dirt bikes. Thank you.

Could be a few different things,But always start with the small( inexpensive )first and work your way up...#1 check your clutch cable adjustment to be sure its engaging and disengaging properly(clutch cables stretch over time and need replaced or adjusted)...but if you have never done any clutch work to the bike(and you ride it like i do mine) #2. it probably needs new clutch plates and #3 maybe clutch basket from your description of the problem. the clutch plate fibers wear down over time(they are like brake pads and wear out).and the plates wear groves in the clutch basket and interfear with the plate movement...hopefully its just your cable..hope this helps..

Can I fit a SUZUKI RM 250 Engine into a 2000 RM 125 frame?

Hi, Anthony sounds like something I would try when I was a kid but after careful deliberation 4 out 5 Suzuki Gods give this one a thumbs down, but just to be on the safe side you should give your local dealer's parts/service department a call to confirm it's just not worth the time trouble and expense you would be better off getting a used 250 bike. MY 2003 SUZUKI RM125 THE CLUTCH WONT DIS ENGAGE

It sounds to me like the clutch is stuck. If you hold the clutch in and rev the engine a few times, sometimes it will unstick the clutch.

What oil do i put in the engine i have a rm125 2006 model

For any 2 stoke motocross bike you can get specific two stroke gear oils from bike shop or simular just make sure it is motor bike specific as your clutch depends on it... as for brand and weights not so important just change regularly and use motorbike specific two stroke gear oil and will be just fine. I always use Bellray oils but its just personal preference and my local bike shop just happens to stock bellray products cheers mate

I can kick start my 1979 rm80 suzuki but when I go to shift gears it kicks out and stops running what could be wrong with it?

Hey Michelle,,
This is something that will have to be looked into.. Sounds like the clutch may not be working.. it won't engage/disengage..(the clutch plates are stuck together - a common thing when older bikes sit for a while!!).. this will require the right side cover to be removed, the clutch cover plate removed, the clutch plates(fiber and metal) to be removed, then cleaned, oiled and everything re-installed in reverse order..with a new side cover gasket..

You MIGHT be able to put the bike in gear.. then try to push it (engine not running) with the clutch lever pulled in and get the clutch plates to break loose (seen this work a couple times)..
You SHOULD be able to push the bike(engine not running) in gear with the clutch lever pulled in!!!

Please rate as helpful.. thanks!

I just purchased a new 2005 rm125 and can't find the VIN #? Where is the VIN located I want to match it against the title.

The Rm125 Vin number is usually on the bikes steering neck, just behind the front Number Board.
Usually it is just to the right of the steering neck so you can read it from the right hand side. The clutch cable will also run close past it so if you follow th eclutch cable from the clutch lever, to where it rounds the frame just past the steering neck, you will see the VIN Number.

Clutch problems Suzuki RM125

Do a gearbox oil change. Then do another one 50 miles later. This should flush out the dirt and grit currently in the gearbox. You may want to invest in a new clutch cable also. 10w40 motor oil.
