Well, first things first, which side did it go down on? on the left you have the primary cover, but you didn't mention a leak so I have to assume thats ok. On the right side you have the ignition sensor and the bundle of wires that hide behind the front pulley cover.

First I'd check to see if the motor is frozen up. If the tip-over switch is disabled or fails the motor can starve for oil and seize while running while on it's side. To do so shift it up into high gear (get friends to help) and "bump" start it. If this works you need to zero in on the switch gear and the wiring that controls your starter.

I was also assuming that the battery is in good condition and fully charged.

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Ignition Switch not in the "ON" position.
2. Engine Run Switch in the "OFF" position.
3. Discharged battery, check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Bank angle sensor tripped and ignition/light key switch not cycled to the "OFF" position and then back to the "ON" position.
5. Security alarm needs a reset.
6. Starter control circuit, relay, or solenoid faulty.
7. Faulty starter button.
8. Electric starter shaft pinion gear is not engaging or over-running starter clutch slipping.

I have a 2005 buell xb12r firebolt. problem is it wont start, wont crank at all. fuell pump works but when i hit the start button nothing. it was working fine earlier in the day then later nothing. its not...

There should be a starter relay somewhere (under the seat, maybe). These can go bad. Low voltage electricity is a pain. Make sure that EVERY connection is tight and does not have any corrosion under them. Try tapping on the starter casing lightly with a screwdriver handle or small tack hammer while pressing the starter button. Might have a dead spot on the armature.
