Question about 2004 Honda CMX 250 Rebel

1 Answer

I have a 2005 Honda Rebel. It has been sitting for over a year. It wouldn't start when I tried it. New gas and still wouldn't start. Cleaned carb, found float was stuck. Now it starts but it is real rough running and will die without choke on. Any suggestions?

Have you check the air box (air filter element)?
How's the spark plugs are they good?
Did you upset any of the jets/needles in the carb when cleaning out?
Good?

2005 Yamaha 250 Rebel will not start

If you did not put in a new battery, try that. Your old battery probably doesn't charge up enough.

I just bought a rebel been sittin for a few years i cleaned rust out of tank. when i open the valve gas should flow freely or does it get sucked in be carb? number two is my throttle action is extremely...

Gas flows by gravity to the carbs so it should flow freely to it at all times.
Remove the cable from the carbs to see if the cable is stiff. If so replace it. If not service the carbs and linkage. Sitting all that time will make it stick

I'm buying my friend's Goldwing 1200, 1986 FI. Bike has been garaged for 4yrs and I tried to start it with new battery but won't start but it cranks, has gas.

Check the kill switch rock it back and forth to be sure it is making contact. Open it up and spray it with contact cleaner that is safe for plastics available at radio shack. After sitting for four years I would start with the fuel system. New filter and NEW GAS and check the fuel lines for cracks and leaks. I have seen bikes that sat for 6 months and needing the carburetors cleaned and reset.

2002 cbr 1100 xx been sitting for 5 years just put new battery in & fresh gas now it is flooding fuel into crank case

Had the same problem with mine, been stood for 1 year. Put a new battery on it everything was fine passed the M.O.T. Waited until the end of the month to tax and it wouldn't start. Plenty of petrol in the tank, wouldn't crank over on the starter, but could hear the fuel pump kicking in. Looking for a fault and kept trying it, checked for loose wires and blown fuses to no avail. Then i noticed fuel light came on checking tank was empty. Wondering where the fuel had gone I found the engine had flooded into the crank. Stripped everything down found the problem was neutral switch was broke. Check this hope it helps you, mine in the 1999 fuel injected model. Cheers Kev :o)

It's been sitting for 4 years - It's in very good condition - barely ridden - I've replaced the battery, plugs, gas - cleaned the carberator - it turn over, but wont crank... suggestions?

Clean the air filter if you have not done it yet. Get a spray can of starting fluid and spray into the filter. You did check the plugs for spark didn't you? If no spark, check the sidestand kill switch as well as the handlebar kill switch.

1996 5 speed honda accord. sat for a year. put in new battery. everything lights up, but car wont start. never had previous problem.

Are you saying the car turns over (cranks) but it does not start? Or, the car is Not turning over?
If it is cranking over but not starting, and it ran fine before sitting for the year, it may be water/moisture in the gas. Try some dry gas, and/or Carb-fuel injection cleaner in your gas tank.
