SOURCE: how do you fix the

This engine transmission setup is the same as the Suzuki SV DL 650. the engine needs to be removed from the bike and placed on a workbench and completly disassembled. If your good at this kind of work and have lots of experience and have a good workshop and helpers used to doing motorcycle or car transmission work you canpossibly do the work your self. You might look at the break downs of the transmission on Bikebandit.com just ot see what the parts look like and to also see if the parts you think your going to need can be bought. It's possible that replacement parts will have to be ordered and then made and they may have a very high price. Do not take the bike apart till you know that you can get the replacement parts and or the dealer says they can fix anything in this area. If you take it apart you will have to put it back together agian fixed or not or even the dealer might not offer to fix it. these engines if left disassembled even for a few days tend to lose bolts or parts and you tend to forget how it goes together. So if you do that it apart and see what you need to fix it and you can't get the parts the same day ( most of the time with a motorcycle) You need to pu it all back together as to not lose anything or get dirt in it where you might not be able to get it out.

What is the cause of white smoke from the exhaust and fuel smell?

Not knowing the age and mileage of the car my answer can only be a general one and as always if you are in any doubt get a good mechanic to look at it. Keep checking both the oil and coolant. The loss could be two separate issues.
You will need to check the smoke in a bit more detail. Does the smoke linger or does in disappear quickly? Thin smoke that disappears quickly is not something you need to worry about unless it gets worse and cold weather makes exhaust fumes more visible.
"White" smoke can actually be one of three colours. White, blue or grey. Get a helper to sit in the car and gently press the accelerator pedal steadily for 2 to 3 seconds then release. Repeat 2 or 3 times. Watch the smoke to see if has a blue or grey tint, or whether it is white. Each colour suggests a different problem. See the photo below.

Engine chugs, lots of white smoke

Smell your oil. If it smells gassy, your carb is stuck wide open-i mean the float stuck, allowing gas to run past the valves and into the block, causing the white/blu smoke. Did you fill the oil to the TOP of the dipstick??? Should be at the bottom. Just a couple of scenarios.

White smoke pours out of exhaust on my SV730 Kohler engine when I start it. Then it stops and the engine runs good. I think it is a bad valve guide or a valve isn't seated right and oil is running

If you filled it up with oil yourself, then you might have put in too much, Ive done that a few times myself,, try ansd drain a little, about two to three ounces, then try to start it, make sure to do this when its cold.

Hi, Dragonace218 your instrument gauges and lights can alert you to most electrical and engine issues they can not warn you about failed engine gaskets or seals so your engine has to resort to old fashion alert methods of colored "SMOKE SIGNALS" here is a breakdown of their meaning:
1. COLORLESS OR SLIGHTLY BLUE SMOKE on start-up means your air/fuel mixture is at the right composition and everything is well burnt in your combustion chamber.
2. BLUE SMOKE on startup is usually caused by failed valve seals dripping oil into the combustion chamber when the engine is not running.
3. YELLOW OR BROWNISH SMOKE at start-up means your air/fuel mixture is too lean. Too lean means that there is low fuel but high air mixture in your combustion chamber.
4. WHITE SMOKE on startup may be caused by a blown head gasket allowing coolant to enter the combustion chamber and may start dripping out of the exhaust pipes or mufflers. Smoke while riding is usually caused by worn out or damaged valves, seals, guides, pistons, rings, or cylinder walls.
5. BLACK SMOKE on startup is usually caused by too much fuel in the combustion chamber this can be due to air/fuel mixture adjustment too rich, accelerator pump improperly adjusted, faulty choke/enrichner or not in the off position, air filter dirty and clogged, faulty carburetor float needle and seat, pilot jet too large, fuel injectors leaking, smoke while riding is usually caused by the main jet being too large or a damaged carburetor.
It should be noted that aggressive or abnormal throttle operation will cause these conditions to manifest themselves exponentially.

Gas pouring from tailpipe

Make sure you use OEM Injectors. The white smoke might come at a 3.5 from a bad gasket bewteen the intake manifold and the throttle boy or if you have the 3.8 from bad gaskets between the intake manifold and the engine.
