Check the air breather make sure it has a good filter if it does it sounds like you need to clean the carbs I would also check for intake leaks by starting the bike and then spray carb cleaner all around the carbs and intake more then likly you have an upstuction in the secondairy jets

Put in new petrol and now what start

the petrol you put in was it mixed with 2 stroke oil if not DO NOT RUN you will blow the saw up if you did then press the little bubble that should be full of fuel (it is usually clear rubber) then open the choke all of the way and pull until the saw starts and dies then adjust to half choke and repeat but when it is running adjust choke to nothing rev the saw several times to loosen up the motor when you do this you should see a little bit of smoke do not run full throttle for more than a minute when in a tree or in the air you have to let the motor rest and re oil itself
warnings always wear saftey gear goggles ear plugs and chaps if you ahve them if not at the very least denim pants and gloves
if you hurt yourself someone else or something it is not my fault i take no liability for what you are doing ( i figure i have no idea your experience and i dont want cops banging down my door saying its my falut if u hurt yourself)
please be careful and have fun

Motor wont rev up when starting cold with choke on trys to run on idle but will not rev up

the motor wont rev high on choke.the motor is suppose to fire once on choke. then turn the choke off.pull the start cord and the motor should start and run.check that the throttle conrol is on full. it should run fine.

Ok i just got a 2004 crf 70. i have taken carb apart twice and cleaned every jet ect... problem is when wide open it cuts out spits and spudders. I have changed settings on throttle cable and swapped out...

Could be that you need to go up one jet size.
When choking a motor, your richening the mixture with more fuel, less air.
So if you must choke it, you must need more fuel.

As for electrical. some bikes have a rev limiter when you hold the throttle wide open You may be reaching the rev limit.
A rev limiter with turn the power on/off the coil superfast, keeping the rmp at a maximum factory setting, and the motor breaks up at full throttle.
Some cdi's have and adjustment that you can set your own rev limit, or you can buy a cdi with no rev limit.
Hope this helps

My BMW R1100RT is difficult to start. Must use full choke, give full throttle once and then hit the start button. It then starts just when I let go of the start button. Often it refuses to start and then...

The choke actually just opens the throttle bodies a little (the bike is fuel injected). Try using putting on the 'choke', then pressing the start button, but dont touch the throttle. Does it start ok? Also, when started, if you use the 'choke' does it increase the engine speed? If it does not, then you need to set it up correctly.
Let us know how you get on.

Hi i,ve got a cb900fz running very rich on cyls 2,3,4 the carbs appear to be standard i,ve recently fitted new air cut off valves float heights appear right but are plastic one piece units so non...

sound like the carbs need to be synced if throttle plates are fully closed at start it would cause a rich condition and no need for a choke becase there is very little air passing through mostly fuel if they are not eqaul there would be hesitation when opening throttles til about 1/4 throttle

Engine cuts out when given gas

if theres nothing wrong with it you should close the choke between half and quarter (depends on the engine) and gently rev the engine bit by bit till it warms up, you will find the revs increase with gas to a point but if you give it any more gas it will start to stall and cut out, you have to wait for it to warm up - by keeping the gas at the sweet spot where you get best revs without it cutting out - then slowly increase gas pressure as the engine warms up - you can press it a little bit more bit by bit as the engine warms up and the combustion gets better - eventually you will be able to press the gas fully kin and the engine will just run but sound bogged down or gasping for air - this is when to open the choke to the RUN position (or fully open) --- it's now ready to use.
To restart a hot engine when it's been stopped : 1 Prime the engine - 3 squirts - (you wont flood it - plus it lubricates the top of the cylinder with fresh 2 stroke and is good for the engine) 2 Hold gas a quarter way open 3 Pull cord! as soon as it fires give it an extra squeeze of gas to give the best chance of a clean start.

Bike bogs for second then revs when throttling

Pull the slide out of the carb then remove the jet needle and move the clip one notch lower on the needle.

IF IT HAS A HIGH SPEED SCREW TURN IT COUNTER CLOCKWISE TO RICHEN THE HIGH SPEED CIRCUT. ONLY NEEDS TO BE TURNED A LITTLE AT A TIME TILL IT SOUNDS RIGHT.
