SOURCE: front fork leaking oil from bottom of the seal.

This is one of the few things that I recommend you take to a shop - you need some very special tools and techniques to fix this problem. Sorry,

SOURCE: 99 CBR 900 Front fork seals

If the seal has been cracked by the cold weather it should be replaced. For someone mechanicly inclined and with the proper tools this is not a hard job. For the novice it can be one of those times you could have sent it to the shop and spent less time and money, and gotten better results....
As to a seal conditioner, the seals today are generally made of synthetic material. No "conditioner" will work. If the seal is made of rubber you have a 90% chance that a product called 'MARVEL MYSTERY OIL' will solve the problem. This prouduct was created in 1917 and marketed in 1923. Google the product name for more hystory and uses today. Basicly, the oil causes rubber to swell. This tightens seals and thus fixes the problem. Most any good auto parts store has this stuff on the shelf. By the way, if the bike was purchased new, wouldn't this be a warranty repair?

SOURCE: Fork seal replacement

Did you try taking down the fork seal and cleaning out with wd/40 and a piece of 30mm film? You should always try this first. The seals rarely go bad. There's probably just a vary small rock holdeing it open and the film will dislodge it the wd is just to help things along.

SOURCE: front fork oil seal replacement

General intructions for most bikes:

Remove front wheel. Loosen fork tube clamps at top and bottom of triple clamps. Slide fork tubes out and remove. Access to seals is from top of tube. Remove cover and unscrew cap. Shop manual for specific bike is $24-$30. Will show detailed instructions.

Good luck;

Front forks drop when moving my 2000 valkyrie from a parked position to a position to start to ride noticeabley about an inch mferguson9@cinci.rr.com

hi although i canot see your bike i am fairly sure what you mean is that your forks sag about 25mm, this is normal, sag is a tecnical term for the sinking of your forks, while seting front suspension preload, this is the amount of tension you put on the fork spring by turning the adjusting nut on the top of each fork, it is most important you first note how much static sag you have , if you have any further points please contact me

2000 Valkyrie Interstate 8,400 miles. After installing a new front tire and heading for ride, I noticed while going straight, my handlebars and fairing were pointing to the right a bit. Getting on level...

provided the wheel and spacers were reinstalled correctly, you can loosen 3 of the 4 the tripple clamp pinch bolts and push the wheel against a wall until straight and retighten, the forks may have had a slight twist and the wheel was holding it straight, when the wheel was reinstalled the axle would pull them back to where they should be

Hello, anyone have the correct fork fluid amount for a 1998 Honda Valkyrie available? Many thanks. I believe one leg holds more then the other.

Just drain each leg and replace the same amount that you drain from each leg. This only works if the legs are not leaking.
