No chain tesion adjustmen older (yellow) Remington EL.1 chain saw

I have and older (yellow) Remington EL.1 chain saw (yard sale for $5!). Runs like a champ but no chain tension adjustment mechanism. This saw has a single bar mounting bolt (newer one have the usual 2). Am I missing a part? The bar on it now has no notch for adjustment tab, but there is nothing to adjust other than cranking down on the single bar mount nut. Ordered an adjustment plate assembly from MTD (# 841-070012S), but this is for more modern models (as I expected).

I NEED A REPLACEMENT CHAIN FOR A REMINGTON EL-2 CHAINSAW THANKS FOR ANY HELP.

Take your chainsaw to a saw shop that repairs chainsaws. They should be able to make one for you or look one up and order it for you. I have found shops in the yellow pages looking under saws.

108526-1 pole saw

I bought this chain without first examining the "count" of my old chain. I found this new chain had 39 drive-links while my OLD chain had 40 links. My 10" Remington saw had enough chain-tensioning adjustment to compensate for that missing link and this new 39-link chain runs fine... cuts very well. Happy.

Need replacement chain for remington 14inch, EL-1 and remington LNT Limb N' Trim 8. Could you provide me with current replacement chain information for both?

Hi jvaltha,

Here is a website that carries the chain for your EL-1 saw: http://shoppingcart.msservicecompany.com/default.aspx?ext=true&itemid=091374S&size=small The part number is a replacement for the original chain, which Remington must not offer any more.

That same site also carries a chain for your LNT 8 saw, but there are different subcategores, LNT1, LNT2, and 8A and B. I'll paste the address for the page where you have to choose your option: http://www.desaparts.com/remington-chainsaw.html

FYI, You don't need to buy a remington chain to fit your saws. Just buy a chain that is the right length and matches the rest of the specs on your chain, the pitch etc. .050,.025, and so many teeth per inch and so forth. Then you can buy locally.

Hope this helps. If it does, I'd appreciate a 4 thumbs up...keeps me working. Thanks,

Handie Andie

I need to know the chain size for my Remington 14" electric chainsaw, Model EL-1

50 drive links; 3/8 pitch; and 0.050 gauge if an original 14" bar your, choose your chain here:
Oregon Bar & Chain Selector
http://www.oregonchain.com/pro/lookups/selguide.aspx?BusId=OCS&SellReg=USA&LangId=ENG
Input "Remington; EL-1; 14"; All; All; All"
The one installed is probably green (low chance of kickback), all of them will work provided it is the original bar.

14" Remington chain replacement

I input "Remington; EL-1; 14"; All; All; All" here:
Oregon Bar & Chain Selector
http://www.oregonchain.com/pro/lookups/selguide.aspx?BusId=OCS&SellReg=USA&LangId=ENG
It returned "91VG050G, 91VX050G or 91VXL050G". Please read the triangular warning placards. The original chain is most likely green.

Column 4 says a 14" chain has 50 drive links (the part in the bar groove". Please count them, if you get a different number try a different length bar. The Oregon part number can be ordered on line or if given to a local merchant fabricated in their facility.

How do I tighten the chain on my Remington 14 in. 2 hp electric chain saw? Have used tightening screw, does do anything. Loosened the blade bolts trying to move the blade out slightly. Doesn't work...

Mitch if you attempted what is in the manual, and it is not working we would have to see and touch the saw to determine what has failed. If you loosened the bar bolts before trying the adjuster and it did not work, I suggest a trip to a local saw shop.

Chain adjustment pages 1, 8 and 9.
