OK, there should be a warmed up idle adjustment on this bike on the carbs under the tank (like my 1985 Honda Interceptor). Maybe it's set too high. On my bike the screw has a knob on it for easy adjustment.

On the Kawasaki motorcycles I'm ot sure if they had this feature.
But, if they don't, then a screwdriver should be enough to turn the idle adjustment screw.

Also, check for kinked cables for the throttle.

Happy biking!

First you need to isolate the the key switch by unplugging it and test for continuity in the off position witch would mean the switch is bad.

You pinched or routed the throttle cable wrong when you put it together. Take the tank back off and check it. Make sure you can hear the throttle plates closing when you release the throttle before you reassemble it.

check if the pipe for petrol is not snapped off.
maybe your carburators are dirty. undo them and clean the float lever and its needle valves.
and check the idle jet and all the other jets

The NSR is a 2 stroke, so it needs 2 stroke oil as well as petrol. This is the reason they are known as "Stinkwheels". If the engine is run without oil in the mix it will seize. As the oil provides lubrication to the moving parts. You should also check the spark plugs are clean, they can oil up in a 2 stroke, especially if the engine is used a lot at low revs.

93 zx7 idols well and revs up out of gear but it wont rev in gear

  • How old is battery? Usually this isn't an issue if the thing starts and runs, but it could be.
  • Another thing it could be is weak spark. Check that as well.
  • Also, Is the fuel good, Does it smell good? Make sure and put "fuel stabilizer" in bike if it sits for over 3 weeks expecially in the winter months.
  • Will it rev up in gear with choke on? IF so, you have a fuel problem.
  • Check those things and then let me know how things turn out... Good luck HDTV GURU JAY

My idol screw needs 2 b ajusted 2 factory settings

No you are confusing the idle screw (a thumb-screw) with the air/mixture screws, these are turned inwards (clockwise) until they lightly seat & then back out the specified amount
You should have the bike tuned by a professional who should include synchronising the carbs, this will let the engine run more smoothly, idle at lower revs ,increase speed & all-round performance speed

Ride safe

1984 aspencade starts w/choke and revs up, runs smooth. Take off

My 'wing won't run unless it has been warmed up some. I would suggest that you r&r your carbs to make sure the jets in the bottom are working correctly. They tend to get plugged up, especially after sitting & the aluminum flaking off inside... Rick

Honda CR-V - 2004 - High RPM not returning to Idol RPM ????

i'am no expert on this car, but i would chk. the T.P.S. (throutle positioning sensor) there also may be carbon build up on throutle butterfly, not letting it close completely when you take your foot off the pedel.
