Sounds like a broken wire in harness around head stock .first check for any dodgy connections failing this turn h/bars left to right note position of wiring harness bend when turning remove insulation tape about10cm before bend to 10cm after bend test each wire individually by holding firm one end(in removed tape area) and pulling on other end ,pull fairly hard and hold pressure if wire is broken the wires insulating cover (colour) will become thinner at broken point find broken wire cut at break add a plus minus 2cm piece of wire (same diameter) solder insulate and tape up wiring harness

My 1982 Suzuki gs550l isn't getting fuel to a cylinder i just rebuilt the carburetors my self

is it the carbs with diaphrams on top ? check they seated correctly ! if slide type then renove filter and get a rag to block slightly the cyl thats off as you run engine and see if it starts to fire , if yes then see if it runs without rag acting as a choker ! if not then clean and rebalance the 4 carbs so they open at same time !

There is no trick put the key in turn it and lift, some of the older machines had a lock and a catch, look to the rear of the lock for a catch, if this is as yours is you have to operate both at the same time

I need spect for cab settings on a 82 suzuki gs550l..

For each carb, turn the air screw and the throttle screw inward until they LIGHTLY seat. Now open each of them one and one half turns. This is the factory setting. If the adjusting screws are seated too tight, the jet will leave a ring indention on the adjuster screw. The ring is not a good thing and will affect performance. Please rate my answer.

A FRIEND GAVE ME A 1982 SUZUKI GS550L WAS PARKED FOR OVER 5 YRS + AND IT STARTED WITH A JUMP START I THINK THE BATT IS NO GOOD DONT HOLD CHARGE WHEN ITS RUNNING , THE FLANGES HOLDING THE CARBS LEAKS...

The neutral safety switch is out of adjustment. Most bike won't start unless it is in Neutral or the clutch lever pulled in. Get a new battery and charge it up full. The intake boots need to be replaced or it will run lean. That is why you need to chock it to get it to run.

What is the reliability of the 1980 suzuki gs750l, .

Many of these bikes will run fine with high miles. I would check the tires, fork seals for leaking fluid. Listen to the engine and exhaust for odd noises. Pinging and rattling are bad. See how it shifts. These bikes require a special tool to replace the clutch plates and that can be expensive.

I owned a 1982 GS550L with 33k Miles on it, and it rode fine. Watch that tire pressure and suspension. Other than that, enjoy your bike!

1982 Suzuki won't start

THe Carbs need to be pulled off and cleaned. If you keep on what your doing. You will burn a valve or a piston. It like leaning a torch out to cut metal.Alternator is probally a bad ground, are blowed fuse????
