Yardman 6.5 HP XL 21''CUT EXTENDED LIFE ENGINE S/N#D06786CN, i've had it for about 3 yrs, however the last time i ran it, i used up all the gass cuz i wanted to store it away until my old clunker mover completely died...well it did. So i was trying to start it w/ a brand new tank of gas and brand new spark plug and air filter, and i primed it, oil is filled up to full line, and it won't start, any advise?? Thank you. T-
See if it will start with a little splash of fuel down the carb.
If it starts for a second you probably have a plugged main jet.
The mowers collect a little bit of fuel in the bottom of the carb and then water comes along and it makes rust and gunk and turns the brass stuff all green. You remove the main jet and clean the two holes on the bottom and the little tiny hole at the top of the threads *(you should wire brush the threads and get a tiny piece of wire strand to clean this jet.)
I know you ran the mower till it ran out of gas....but that was only till it ran out of enough gas to fuel the main jet. There was still fuel residue in the fuel line and the bowl.
This should be a fast fix though. Good luck and be careful!
