Question about 1993 kawasaki ZXR 400

1 Answer

My ZXR 400 is cutting out when given throttle

I was driving along when the bike started to die. I pulled in and the bike was able to start again but when I tried to move off (ie give it over 3/4000 revs) the bike would cut out. Its an electrical problem Im sure but what?? It will start and idle no problem. Iv checked rectifier and 12v when running. Possibly a coil has broken down......

How does the compression feel now that you have it cranking over again. Without the decompression lever pulled in it should be next to impossible to kick it over. also, is there any noise coming from the engine (knocking, etc.) when you got it to start again.

Buell blast won't start

You have a bad switch somewhere - either the clutch switch in the clutch lever or the kickstand switch is bad. Of course I had a blast that had a sloppy connector at the back of the key switch that did all of the above too.

Drain your fuel and replace it along with some Sea Foam fuel additive. It has sat for 2 months with the same fuel? carb is probably all gummed up. Clear out your jets with compressed air.

it doesnt need wearing in , something is wrong, take it off and make sure the inner moves freely inside the outer absolutely no resistance, and make sure your throttle tube turns freely on the handle bar
