It should be clearly marked on the engine gearbox casing or if on the dry sump system should have a dipstick on the top of the frame near the steering head main nut.

Mine takes 1.26qts for a complete engine oil replacement. That means oil filter change, dry sump emptied, and frame oil removed. If you would like a cheaper solution to these types of questions, yamaha sells the book, but little known fact, most also sell a digital CD service manual for $20. By doing this, you don't have to wait on it to come in for a 5th of the price of the printed version.

03 yzf 250f how to change oil

This engine holds one quart of standard Yamaha YZ 250 engine oil. The oil filter is located on the rear of the crankcase behind the suspension spring. The oil filter looks like a small metal can that is screwed into the top rear of the crankcase. On the bottom of the crankcase is the plug that will need to be removed to drain the oil from the crankcase. Anyone who owns this model dirt bike can complete this job in about 10 minutes.

2005 Yamaha YZ 250f. suggestions on type of motor oil.

The manual gives different grade for different temp . sorry if your in america these temps are in centigrade.
if it gets below 0 deg C use the thinner oil 10W30
5deg-40deg 15 or 20W40
If it gets to 50degC 20W50
just make sure it is motorcycle oil without friction modifiers or the clutch will slip

What did Yamaha tell you? I think 10 is too light. Call your Yamaha shop for the proper recommendation.

My 05 yz 250f clutch wont engage..

is this while its runnig or not, sometimes the cluctch wont engage while the bike is not runnig, but will engage when running. its common. if not they may just be stuck. did you drain the oil and have the plates exsposed to elements while the engine was out of the frame. open the clutch plate cover, check that they look fine. other than that if the clutch is hydrolic check for air in the system. and also the fluid level. good look.
