What fluid do I use to flush my forks with to clean them if I don't want to completely pull them a part.

Use the same fork oil you would use to top it off with.

Auto fluid was brown so when I drained it, only 2 litres came out, so put back 2 litres of fresh which came up to the hot mark on the dipstick. Fluid now still brown ( but not as dark as before.

Michael, If your vehicle is a normal automatic transmission it will have a torque converter. If you really want to attempt a complete flush, I will post links on how it is done, you will still have to change the filter to ensure a thorough job. Yep! Paul's right! Get a complete t-r-ans-mission fluid flush and fill at Ford or Midas or SOMWHERE,but do it now! don-ohio (:^)P.S.
Every 40K miles is a good to replace fluid.

FLUSH? thats a big reg flag, flushes, and incorrect fluid cause a lot of problems. you may need to have a trans shop check it out.

2007 avalance 55,000 miles and both calipers have gone bad, is this something that has happened alot with other people?

first things first how did they go bad, leaking, uneven pushing, ect.
if they just wear the pads wrong don't buy new ones just pull the slides and clean them and regrease them. 99% of the time people just replace a caliper when it just needed cleaned. also if both went bad at close to the same time you might want to have the fluid flushed out. Brake fluid becomes acidic after some time, that is why I have test strips in my tool box most people don't realize that your brake fluid, antifreeze both turn acidic after time and that is why they get leaks in the hoses and headgaskets go bad over time, and also why some calipers go bad. a little more preventitive maintanance would head off most problems.

Put transmission fluid to brake fluid by mistake is there any help for this

If you have not used the brakes since, remove the master cylinder, and clean out the resevoir with brake cleaner. If you have, be safe and have your brake hydraulic system pressure flushed with new brake fluid. I would in this case, have it towed to the garage, as you don't need foreign fluid getting any furthur into the brake system, before you have it flushed.

I recently took my 2006 toyota tacoma to the tacoma dealership where i regularly have my oil changed. They recomended to me that I get my power steering flushed, brake fluid flushed, recharge the K&N...

their job is to sell work.however its a good idea to have the brake fluid flushed and the fuel system cleaned.the power steering fluid you don`t have to have flushed,you can if you choose don`t have to have it done at a dealership and it will not void any warranty,if you have extended.

My 2002 fxd front forks are soft and come close to bottoming out. Does the fluid need to be changed? if so how and how much?

Yes your fluid may need to be changed if you want a more firm front end. I don't know what type of fluid you have in the forks now but what you need to do is to go with a thicker oil. In my '94 FXDWG, I went to PJ1 30 weight oil. Since I don't have a book on your late model bike, I can't tell you how much oil to put into each tube. There is a "wet" and a "dry" quantity to add when you've drained them. If you simply drain the oil and refill the fork tubes, use the "wet" quantity of oil. If you disassemble and clean the tubes out, use the "dry" quantity when you refill.

To drain the oil, look on the trailing side of the fork sliders. You'll see a screw or a set screw in the slider. Take this plug out and some of the oil will simply flow out. To get all of it out, hold the front brake and push down on the handlebars. Now, oil will spray everywhere so don't do this job in your living room. Once you get the oil out of both tubes, reinstall the plugs and refill the tubes one at the time by removing the top cap out of the tube and pouring the prescribed amount of oil into each fork tube. Ride the bike and see if the front suspension is too soft, too firm, or just right. Remember, the heavier the viscosity of the oil, the more firm the front suspension is. If you can't get it right, you might want to consider changing the springs in the fork tubes.

I was needing to know a way to flush the old contaminated hydraulic fluid out of a clutch system on a 1994 Ford Escort.

If the contaminated fluid is just old brake/clutch fluid which has too high a moisture content, then just bleed the clutch in the normal way but keep bleeding until what comes out is fresh clean fluid. Obviously, you need to keep a careful check on the fluid reservoir level as you do the job to ensure that you don't allow the level to drop low enough to pull air into the system.

If the clutch hydraulics have been contaminated with mineral oil though, then you must completely drain and strip the master cylinder and slave cylinder afterwards and replace all the seals after washing all internal components in fresh brake fluid. Flushing first just ensures that no contamination remains in the hoses to ruin the new seals when you refill the system.

2002 suz intruder clutch wont dis engage

First , there is no cable to adjust or check. Suzuki uses a hydraulic cluth release on this model. There is a tiny hole in the resevoir on the handlebar,check the condition of the brake fluid in your resevoir.If it has not been changed in a long time,2 YEARS or more,Change it and clean the muck from the bottom .Make sure the holes are clear.Flush the system with clean brake fluid down to the slave cylinder located at the lower left side of engine. What is most likely happening is every time you pull the clutch lever the slave is moving out,with the hole in the master clogged the slave cannot return, this is leaving the clutch disengaged at all times.I would suggest checking this out before pulling clutches out ,or the engine out to check shift forks.
