It sounds as if the engine is running very lean, this can be caused by several things. Firstly the fuel filter you have installed, is it pointing in the correct direction (Fuel in and Fuel out), also is it a high pressure filter? If not remove it. Another thing that causes problems is the fuel pump could have a problem, it is also possible the gauze filter on it is clogged. Next check the fuel you have and make sure it has no water in it, to clear small amounts of water you can get a tank of ethanol, this will mix water and burn it off as you ride (Don't us a big mix E10 should be sufficient) if you don't like the ethanol, empty the tank of ethanol and refill with regular fuel.

Had a simular problem last month. This is how I fixed it: Removed tank, removed fuel pump assembly, removed an cleaned the white plastic fuel filter (doesn't stop fine **** from going into the pump). Removed acual pump from the housing and blew air through every thing (pay close attention to the metal gause filter. Wired pump upto 12 volt battery and flushed through about a litre of fuel. Blew more aire through all parts and repeated pumping another litre of clean fuel thrugh the pump. Made sure there was no more fine **** an all the parts. Reassembled pump. Cleaned out fuel tank (just swilled it with clean fuel). Put pump back into the tank and filled tank with clean fuel. Has been running like new since then. Hope this helps.

Fuel starvation? Twisted or kinked fuel line? Some may be getting through to run the engine but not enough under load. Throttle adjusted properly? Only enough movement for low rev range.

Sounds like it needs a good carb cleaning or good fuel. Smell the gas and make sure it is good 1st. Then, Make sure battery is charged up. Then, try again, if that fails, take carbs off bike and give good cleaning inside and out. Good luck and don't loose any parts... Sincerely HDTV GURU JAY

Power and revs

Sounds like it is running very lean. Look for a plugged filter at the tank fuel tap or maybe an 'inline' filter. Make sure the air filter and the exhaust system are not plugged. Did you tear the carburetor down and blow out all passages with compressed air when you cleaned it? Don't blow into the fuel inlet with compressed air as it will crush a metal float. (don't ask how I know this!) Hope this helps!
