I hav a 98 Malibu Was idleing funny change the tps didnt fix it now when driveing it acts like it wants to die but when i stop it dies still acts like the idleing is still offf

There are a few things you can check for, 1. the idle air control valve for carbon and the same for the throttle plate having varnish or carbon build-up . Use spray carb. cleaner if any of these are black with carbon.2. A dirty mass air flow sensor will cause stalling and Idle problems . You can get cleaner just for mass air flow sensors ,don't use carb.clean ,or brake clean ! Or you could possibly have a vacuum leak ! check all vacuum hose , you can spray carb cleaner at intake gaskets to check for leaks , but be careful it is flammable !!!

My 1995 duati 900ss SP Bucks,Hesatates and misses at all speeds except while excellirating seems to work fine.

the mufflers act to create back pressure and the air filter acts to restrict air intake. the cheapest way forward would be to re-jet the carbs, might be worth getting matching k&n type air filters to match

Radian idles high at 4 g then drops down to 21/2 g then dies

Hi, Daniel and the usual suspects are:
1. Throttle cables improperly adjusted, pinched or need lubrication.
2. Idle adjusting screw needs to be backed off.
4. Air fuel mixture adjusted too lean start with 2 full turns.
5. Intake system air leak.
6. Fast idle choke ramp is not releasing.
7. Broken throttle return spring.
8. Damaged diaphragm or slide.
9. Faulty MAP, TPS, ATS, O2, sensors or wiring/connector
10. Multi carburetors not in sync.

My 91 pathfinder has a looping idle..dosent do it all the time...ive changed fuel fillter, TPS, and cleaned air intake sencor.....will run and drive fine and then go to start and it will starve out and...

fuel pump or pump regulator cud be failin--distributer cap may be corroded--do a scan for bad codes--clean throttle body and idle control motor--get a haynes manual

Die on sidestand

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

To your query, no, the ZZR250 should continue to idle. If the engine dies while idling, it indicates that the engine has starved for fuel which then could be caused by:
  • clogged / blocked idle jets;
  • too much air (air filter removed or replaced with open / free breathers such as those by K & N);
  • too little vacuum on the intake manifold hence the petc0ck closes and fuel is not allowed to flow to the carbs. Try setting petcock to PRI;
  • carbs are not in balance/sync.

Solution would require carb pulldown, checking / cleaning. Completely dis-assemble and soak non-rubber parts in carb cleaner. The idea is to descale / remove the varnish like film coating that would have developed. This would also ensure that the idle jets are not clogged. Note how many turns the air idle mix (pilot) screw is set to.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa. Happy Holidays.

Rough idle and hesatates about half throttle

I would check your plugs, cap, rotor and wires first. If they all look good your carborator may be bad. Dirty jets or clogs in the fuel system could be starving the engine of fuel and your accelerator punp in the carb could be bad.

2007 yamaha grizzly 660 backfires when you let off the gas what causes it

Backfiring is usually a result of the timing being incorrect, this can also be a result of a bad valve.

Will not idle

blocked carbs, get a good fuel system cleaner, if you in USA get Berrymans B12, double the dose and mix in tank. run til hot then leave to stand overnight. also if you can remove the air cleaner to get to carb intake, get spray carb cleaner an chuck a load in there. also check to see if you have a fuel filter inline
