Hi ,
Is your carby well fixed? If your air intake is too big ,the bike will not run properly .
Make sure the carby is not taking additional air or not enough .
Clean the air filter , tune the carby with the mixing screw air/fuel

MC Dies upon ANY throttle application. HELP!

Odds are that if it sat for a year with fuel in it, the carb may be gummed up. Opening the throttle will cause an immediate engine stop if it is not getting fuel.

I'd recommend a "clean out the carb" project, including using air to blow out allof the small orifices.

Hd carb idles fine will not advance throttle bogs down

You didn't say what year or model bike it is but I'm going to assume that it has the stock Keihin CV carburetor on it. You need to check two things, the accelerator pump and the slide vacuum diaphragm.

To check these, first take the air filter off but leave the backing plate on the carb. With the engine OFF, crank the throttle wide open while looking into the mouth of the carb. You'll see a brass nozzle just inside the mouth of the carb. When you crank the throttle open, you should see a squirt of fuel come out of this nozzle. If not, you need to replace the diaphragm in the accelerator pump that is on the bottom of the carb float bowl.

If that is working correctly, start the engine and gently rev the engine while watching the slide inside the carb. DO NOT GET YOUR FACE TOO CLOSE TO THE CARB IN THE EVENT THE ENGINE SPITS BACK THROUGH THE CARB. The slide should be moving up and down. If not, the vacuum diaphragm that operates the slide may have a hole in it. You must take the carb off the engine and take the top plate off to get the slide and diaphragm out.

One other thing. If the bike has been sitting for an extended period of time, the jets may be clogged inside of the carb. This will require a complete disassembly of the carb to clean out the jets and the small fuel and air passageways.

Good Luck

I have a cr 125 2003 model , my bike was running and starting fine but today it cut out t, the spark plug is firing there is fuel coming threw but it is not firing up ,there apperes to be flooded as the...

HI, IF IT IS FLOODED, TURN OF THE FUEL AND OPEN THE THROTTLE FULLY AND KEEP AT THIS POSITION WITHOUT THE CHOKE,KICK REPEATINGLY AND IT MAY FIRE EVENTUALY,

RREMEMBER THAT THE CHOKE INITIALY FLOODS THE ENGINE FOR COLD STARTING, SO USING THE CHOKE WHEN ALLREADY FLOODED WILL WORSEN THINGS,

YOU COULD PROBABLY REMOVE THE EXHAUST TO DISPENSE THE FUEL QUICKER AND PUT IN A CLEAN PLUG, I WOULD DO THIS BEFORE I STRIP DOWN THE CARB TO SEE IF THE PROBLEM CLEARS, AS THE BIKE WAS PREVIOUSLY RUNNING IT SEEMS ODD TO START MAKING ADDJUSTMENTS

When I start my 2003 Vstar 1100 Classic, and as i give it throttle during ideling, it dies out? Also as im driving my bike and i come to a red light and i down shift and the idle lowers, it dies out, but...

There are a few quick things to try before cleaning the carbs.

1.Clean your air filter, it may be choking out, trust me a dirty air filter will choke out a bike.
2.Check your spark plugs. If they are black and sooty, change them out. Its quick and less expensive.

I diagnosed a 2001 Roadking Fuel injected. Ran like ****, hardly any throttle response, died at idle.
the customer said he just had it serviced a month ago at the dealer.
I pulled the plugs and they were nasty. The dealer forgot to change out the sparkplugs. It Happens
I Put in a new set of spark plugs and the bike ran like new.
I've fixed a bunch of bikes in the past and this one always stuck in my mind because of the difference in performance.

Try the sparkplugs, i think its more likely to be that than the air filter.

I need tuning specs for my 1982 suzuki gs 750.

You need to fix the fueling first - without fuel it won't run!
Your other problem sounds like an air leak - either the manifold or the carb. Check by spraying WD-40 or CRC at the manifold and carb join while the bike is running - if the revs change (either up or down) you have a leak.

Hard starting, dies when throttle opened quickly.

Sounds like a kill switch is going bad or ignition wire getting grounded along the frame or elsewhere. A bad ignition switch can do the same thing. Check the side stand kill switch if your bike has one. Check all electrical connectors. A loose or dirty connection can screw up the works.

Please rate this solution. Thanks allarismith!
