Question about 2005 Gilera Runner VX 125

Engine misfires at medium revs on my sons 2008 gilera runner 50cc. We have cleaned carb and air filters without any improvement any ideas gratefully recieved

Just fitted a new carb to my gilera runner 50cc and now it revs really high on idle

I would check a few things. First off make sure the throttle cable is adjusted correctly. Second, try opening the throttle half way and letting go you should hear the inside parts of the carb click as they seat. Third, find the idle adjuster screw turn this anti clockwise and see if the idle speed drops down. Fourth check the choke mechanism is working properly choke/cold start forces a rich mixture to the engine and increases the idle revs.
it is worth checking the pilot air screw is adjusted correctly. Hope this helps.

You usually wash the filter and then use something like K&N Air Filter oil specially made for the job. You can use normal 5w-30 as all it does is catch particles of dust because oil is sticky.

If your carb is leaking it can only be three things. That is the overflow by the way, and would normally have a short length of tube on it pointing downwards.

The Float height is set wrongly

The fuel inlet nozzle that the float seals against has something in it.

The carb isn't perfectly vertical.

Not starting is a whole different ball game. Your engine needs Fuel, and Air in the correct amounts, a spark at the right time, and compression. You need to find what part of your puzzle is missing. First remove the spark plug, turn the ignition on, and with the spark plug held against the cylinder, turn the engine over and see if you have a spark. Put your finger over the spark plug hole and turn the engine over to make sure you have compression. You should really use a compression gauge. Then we come to the fuel air mixture for starting. This is done via the mixture screw on the side of the carb. Did you remove this when you stripped the carb? The manual will tell you but usually, you screw in gently until the screw stops and undo is 1.5 turns or so.

Gilera purejet starts revs doesnt really drive

Your carb jets may need a good clean ,also check your air filter it may need changing along with new spark plugs .

My Gilera 125cc Dna keeps cutting out at high revs? Any ideas?

If you are requiring more fuel and it isn't getting there, look for a clogged fuel filter. Also check air filter and carb float bowl for crud build up from gasolin.

on the carb you will find 2 screw one will be quite far in than the over thats the one you adjust this is the mixture screw which controlles the air and petrol together unscrew it say 1/4 a turns at a time and see if it improves if it gets worse screw it the oposite way and see if that improves good luck buddy

Gilera runner 50cc wont start

Don't do the gas down the spark plug thing. It's a bad idea. Do the following >
Remove the water trap bowl at the bottom of the petcock, (gas valve). Is there any water or trash in the bowl? Drain a cup of gas from the tank. Is there any water or trash in the cup? Dump it, clean it and re-mount it, ( not all bikes have a water trap bowl ).

Drain the carburetor. There should be a screw on the lower side or bottom of the carb float bowl. Remove the screw then replace it after the fuel drains. Turn the gas back on and wait a minute for the carb to fill with gas. Install a new stock NGK spark plug and try to start the engine. If the bike doesn't start and run properly then shut off the gas and remove the carburetor from the engine.

Remove the float bowl and clean the entire carb with a spray carb cleaner from the auto parts store. Wear protective goggles to avoid getting spray in your eyes. Spray into all the little airways and fittings in the carb. Remove the idle screw and the air screw on the outside throat of the
carb and spray into the screw holes as well.
Be sure to put these two screws back in the same hole they came out of. IMPORTANT > do not tighten these two adjusters down. Only screw these in until they LIGHTLY seat. Now turn each adjuster one and one half turns outward. Put the rest of the
carb back together, clean the air filter and install the carb. Let the float bowl fill then start the engine. This process should get you back on the road.

Misfiring at speed on gilera 200 scooter

This sounds more like a lean fuel condition than ignition. If it was stored over the winter without the gas being drained or a fuel stabilizer being added, you'll likely have varnish build-up in the fuel system that is not allowing sufficient fuel flow.  If your engine is fuel injected, it's likely your injector is partially clogged.  If it's carbureted, your carb jets may be partially clogged or your carb float may be sticking and not allowing the needle valve to fully open.  Fill the gas tank with fresh gasoline, but leave enough room for a can of Sea Foam.  The Sea Foam may be able to break up the deposits and allow fuel to flow again.  However, there's no guarantee and the fuel system may have to be disassembled to be cleaned.
