Question about 1997 Suzuki GSF 600 S Bandit

1 Answer

Loss of power, running on two cyclenders, cut out, will not start, heavy knocking noise from engine when turning engine over with starter. prior to this the engine would cut out but not as it would if the problem was electrical, more like a fuel starvation problem.

Hi and welcome to the site,

If the cylinders not firing are 1 & 2 or 3 & 4, then it would be fuel / carb problem. If it is 1 & 4 or 2 & 3, then it would be electrical.

Good luck and thank you for asking.

Will a bad knock sensor make a knocking noise in the motor

The simple answer is NO, they are there to detect engine knock (pinging) caused by to much ignition timing or not enough fuel (engine running lean). If your knock sensor or sensors are not working the ECU will run the engine in a rich (more fuel) and retarded ignition which will cause a small loss of power and the engine will use more fuel.

Flashing oil light/ loss of power

Check your converter on your exhaust when it's running and see if the noise of rattling is coming from there. If it is you have a plugged converter,it's broken up and in piece's which will make noise and no power especially when calling for power.Be sure to let exhaust cool before repair is done.If the engine is making the noise like a knocking sound you should bring it to have it checked.Hope this help's.

Engine want crank

an IC (internal combustion ) engine is dependent on the spark timing for initial start (crank).here since most of it was remanufactured , the spark timing is at fault.
TIME the spark a few degrees before TDC and see the difference .i hope this solves your problem.
