Question about kawasaki Ninja 250R Motorcycles

Eradic acceleration, throttle response

Two weeks ago I changed the oil and spark plugs on my 06 ninja 500r. Yesterday was the first time I started the bike up to ride, aside from the start up after the maintenenance. I noticed that the acceleration would fluxuate, and that I had delayed moderate throttle response. The bike itself was acting as though it were out of gas, although i have a full tank of premium fuel in it. Any suggestions as to possible problems?

Hi ,
It sound to me like you may have a faulty plug or lead to your plugs .
Make sure all your spark plugs are the same as the previous ones .
Check all leads are also not loose or cracked as they may earth themselves and cause malfunction

Im trying to put my vulcan 500 carbs on a ninja 500r it runs for a few min then wont start again till next day is it carb adjustment or valve adjustment i need to do

Hi, Jason and the usual suspects are:
1. Fuel tank empty.
2. Fuel supply valve/petcock turned off.
3. Fouled spark plugs.
4. Engine flooded as a result of overuse of the enricher.
5. Vacuum hose to the fuel supply valve/petcock disconnected, broken, cracked, or pinched.
6. Fuel valve/petcock or filter clogged.
7. Fuel line to carburetor or throttle body pinched or kinked.
8. Carburetor float stuck.
9. Fuel injectors clogged.
10. Severely discharged or damaged battery, you need 12.5 volts or better and be able to pass a load test if necessary.
11. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
12. Loose or corroded wire connection at the coil, battery or plug between ignition sensor and module.
Spark plug cables in bad condition and shorting, cable connections loose, or connected to the wrong cylinders.
13. Ignition timing incorrect due to a faulty ignition coil, ignition module or sensors (MAP, CMP, CKP, O2, TPS, ETP, IAC,or BAS).
14. Faulty neutral, clutch lever, or kickstand safety switch.
15. Faulty fuel pump or fuse or relay.
16. Faulty CDI box if applicable.
17. Tilt sensor needs a reset.
18. Security system not disarming alarm needs a reset.

Car will not accelerate after recent tuneup!

You must have disconnected something on the throttle linkages when you changed the gasket. Also look for wires off sensors.

That sounds like an exhaust leak possible a clamp on the exhaust or worse Iv'e seen head gasket leaks like this inspect where the head and the block join, look for coolant leaks also.

Very poor throttle response in low gear....throttle response poor below 4000rpm

Please replace your spark plug with new one. Just use the recommended spark plug.

How can i tell when my 2002 kawasaki ninja 500R needs a tune up?

Check the maintenance schedule in your owners manual or on The 500 requires a valve adjustment and carb sync every 8000miles. Spark plugs should be checked and replaced, if fouled at the same time as the valve adjustment.

Rebuilt carbs runs rich pops 1/4 throttle changed jets still have problems with popping but runs great when on throttle

check ur air/fuel mixture screw...turn all the way to the left and count the turns and let me know what u come up with example....1 1/4 turns 2 1/5 turns
