Try the Redline V-Twin Transmission Oil with ShockProof or Amsoil Sevear Gear 75/ 90 .Make sure you warm up the tranny before it is changed.

Your 2005 RK came with H-D Syn3 20W50 synthetic motor oil in the transmission. There are other lubricants available such as Amsoil, Royal Purple, and Mobil. You'll have to go to their websites to find out which ones are compatible with your intended usage.

Good Luck

Is it possible for the transmission fluid in my 2005 Road King to leak into the crank case oil pan?

if there is a faulty seal on the crankshaft then the gear oil can get to the crankcase
being a separate case with separate oil, check that the breather for the transmission is not blocked and the pressure build up is not forcing the oil past the seal into the crankcase

The same oil as the engine. However, you may be happier with Redline gear lube.

I'd use a full synthetic 75-140. But you'll get other suggestions as well. I've run the full synthetic 75-140 in both my HD's since 1990. It is expensive but worth it to me for as often as it is changed.
