Sounds like you have lost all the oil presher,,,first check if it has oil in it? if it has dont run the engine till you have given it a realy good looking at,,this engine wont live very long without oil presher
it could be some thing simpel like a sheared off drive pin on the oil pump

All four gauges are wired using common supply and ground connections. Oil, Voltage, Temperature and Fuel. If two gauges are not working and stopped at the same time, then I would start by removing the outer fairing and checking the wiring harness. If gauges stopped working at different times, then it is likely either the senders have gone faulty or the gauges themselves.

Oil pressure gauge

You have oil pressure and the gauge is working and no noise
that's great! Only worry if the gauge stops working.
cruise- on! Happy trails!

Cannot find a 2 prong oil pressure sending unit to replace an assumed bad unit on my 1994 Ultra with 40psi Gauge and idiot light. When on but not started Gauge reads zero, and idiot light is on. Start...

Hi Anonymous, start by checking oil level in tank and it is between the add and full mark. With engine at normal operating temperature 180-230 degrees and the use of a 10 micron synthetic media oil filter, oil pressure will be 30-38 psi at 2,000 RPM and 3-5 psi. at idle. The oil pressure light is designed to come on at 2 psi. or less. To accurately test oil pressure remove oil pressure sending unit and install known good oil pressure gauge that reads 0-50, there might possibly be some plumbing required for hard to access points. If you are out in the middle of nowhere and there is no cell phone service and your oil pressure gauge isn't working and your oil pressure light is burned out, despair not, you still have one last line of defense left HYDRAULIC LIFTERS.as long as those tireless workers are quiet, you have oil pressure, maybe not much, but enough to get you down the road at a slow to moderate speed using the least amount of RPMS as nessary. Good luck

Hd oil presure up and down

Hi Anonymous, if your oil pressure gauge is acting eratic or your oil pressure light stays on you could have a faulty sending unit, gauge or air in the system or a restricted oil filter, start by checking oil level in tank and make sure it is between the add and full mark. With engine at normal operating temperature 180-230 degrees and the use of a 10 micron synthetic media oil filter, oil pressure will be 30-38 psi at 2,000 RPM and 3-5 psi. at idle. Good luck and have nice day.

Oil lights stays on

If the engine is not making any noise then it is likely not a real oil pressure problem. Just to make sure have the pressure checked by a shop with a mechanical test gauge and if found to be inspect replace the sending unit and that should in most cases cure the problem. I assume this is a pressure indicator.

I have a 2002 Ultra Classic with just over 20,000 miles on it. I just wiped it down and took off to ride and noticed the oil pressure gauge was motionless. I turned around and came home- about four miles...

Use an ohm meter to check your sending unit. Disconnect the wire from the front of the sending unit. Put your meter function switch in OHMS, R X 1 range. Put one lead to the stud where the wire came from and the other lead to the engine. You should read zero or very low resistance. Start the engine and you should read a very high resistance. If not, your sending unit, oil pressure switch, is bad. Other wise, you may have a problem with the wiring running from this switch to the gauge.

If your engine has no oil pressure, your tappets would be making a very loud rattling noise. Kinda like a tin can full of rocks. If your engine is running normal and quietly (mechanically) you have oil pressure.

Good Luck

Oil gauge light blinking

The only thing you can do is look for a loose wire or replace the sending unit, pressure switch.

If your engine is indeed losing oil pressure, the hydraulic tappets would be making enough noise that you would know that something was wrong. If your engine sounds like it normally does, you've go oil pressure. Just something lying to you. Gauges will do that sometime.

Oil light came on and engine started to make more noise before I shut down. Drained oil and put in new and tried and oil light still stayed on. When I changed oil there was some sludge on plug. What do I...

You say your oil light came on and your engine started "to make more noise". You engine is equipped with hydraulic tappets. If you lost oil pressure, the tappets would have sounded like rocks in a tin can. If you think you have an oil pressure problem, you can check the oil pressure with a gauge. Just in front of the cam chest, there is an oil pressure sending unit. You can unscrew this unit and screw in an oil pressure gauge. Start the engine and see how much pressure you're running. You must use a high quality gauge to test the pressure and you must know how much pressure the engine is supposed to have. I'm sorry but I don't have any specs for the Twin Cam engines. But, if you don't have any oil pressure, your tappets will let you know. They will be noticably loud. Check the wire on the pressure switch and you may want to replace the pressure sending unit.

Good Luck

I have a 2005 Isuzu ascender, the gauge light keeps coming on. The oil gauge drops to zero. I have gotten an oil change and new filter. What can the problem be now?

It could be a bad oil sending sensor, or the oil pump. When it drops, does the gauge stay on zero or fluctuates. The sending sensor isn't to bad to replace or cost wise, but pump is a different story. Have someone check the sending unit or just have it replaced to see if that's the problem.

2002 2.5l no oil pressure on gauge. Runs fine...no

You better put a manual gauge on your engine and make sure you have oil pressure. Could just be a faulty gauge or sending unit but I sure as heck would be checking it with a manual gauge.
