2002 Honda SHADOW SABRE It wont stay runnin unless it's choke is fully engaged. and backfires It was about 2qts low with 19,000 mile

More information is needed - aftermarket pipes? any carb work been done to it? is fuel fresh? air filter condition? how are the plugs burning? oily black, white/tan?

My 04 honda shadow sabre backfires and the only way i can get it to stay running is having the choke on haulf way


mix is too weak, not sure if you have a carb or electronic ignition so if carb, probably needs a clean and new filters, if electronic get it checked

2004 Honda VT 1100 C2 Shadow Sabre starts, but dies when throttle is opened


Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Idle port, transfer ports, slow air jet clogged.
2. Idle adjusting screw set too low.
3. Air fuel mixture adjustment too lean.
4. Pilot/slow fuel jet clogged.
5. Faulty accelerator pump.
6. Float level too low.
7. Float bowl contaminated old fuel, water, dirt, rust, etc.
8. Carburetor bowl vent line clogged/blocked/pinched.
9. Fuel line to carburetor kinked or pinched.
10. Fuel filter clogged.
11. Intake manifold leak.
12. The gas cap is not venting properly or fuel tank venting system blocked.
13. Vacuum line from intake manifold to petcock broken, cracked, or not attached, carburetor vent line plugged.
14. Needle and seat stuck closed in the float bowl.
15. Multi carburetors not in sync.
16. Faulty fuel pump.

try to check fuel line and if the petcock is diaphram type check the diaphram

My 1997 honda vt1100 shadow wont run or idle if i take the choke off and backfires on deceleration and acceleration what can i do to fix this issue?

2002 honda shadow spirit won't idle without choke on and misfires and backfires run awful. plugs have oil residue on all 4.

theres a short somewhere. check any after market lights or assories thats been add to bikes... could be as simple as a plate lite not shutin down. somethings drawin the power. disconnect the negitive on battery when not in use

Wont run good unless full choke backfires


You've either got a vacuum leak or the jets are stopped up in at least one of your carbs. That bike has two carburators. You need to check for vacuum leaks, loose hoses or have your carburators serviced.
