run the fault codes for an exact diagnosis but from your description of the problem I would be looking at a failing cat converter as it may be blocking up the exhaust system

I'm sorry but I believe you have this posted in the wrong product category? Please re-post the question in the proper category if this is the case, otherwise you have my apologies. This is the car and truck problem category

I have to have the choke all the way on in order for my bike to run, an when i do get it started it back fires an like its starving for gas, we didnt ride it much last year, went to put it away last season...

Did you clean the air filter ?. The bike will miss like hell if it is starved for oxygen.
The Air filter is normally a sealed box with a curved air intake and a rubber hose connected to the carburetor. Open the box and clean the sponge filter with petrol and squeeze it dry before reassembling. If you have access to 2T engine oil dip the sponge in it and squeeze dry before reassembling.Back firing does not indicate starving for fuel .

Hi Gusowz, put the throttle needle and float height back to their original position, I am sorry you can't find the first and best tool you ever bought for your Aprilia but despair not for a mere $10 you can download another one. Lose of power on acceleration like its starving

Sounds like there is a load of dirty fuel in that gas tank. Ran good for a while after changing fuel filter, then began to run poorly again. Remove fuel tank, drain and clean out, replace fuel filter AGAIN. That should cure it. Hope this helps

My DR 800S 1991 IS LOSING POWER

you say theres petrol running from the hose from the airbox? if so that aint right and sounds like your carburettor floats are sticking open which would flood the bike and make it run rough and to rich sometimes bashing the float bowl on the bottom of the carb whilst still on the bike can free a sticky float use a bit of 2x2 or 2x4 and jab it dont use a sledge hammer or something lol if that dont work strip down the float chamber and clean and try again all the best
