My guess is negative earth. I know there have been vehicles with a positive earth, but very rare and very early models. If you are uncertain also try one of the laverda club sites. I havent posted this as a solution as im only 99.99% sure

All late 60's and 70's Laverda 750 twins are negative earth.
Buy the 'Green Book' ISBN-13:
978-0-9796891-0-9 - do not pay more than the cover price inc post.
For parts try Slaters or Motal in the UK. I buy from Laverda Paradies in Germany, does what it says on the tin - every time.

Old club car battery wireing digram

How old? The two most common wiring of the batteries are: (old) two batt on driver side , front one neg toward middle of cart, back one positive toward middle. Middle batteries-- both positive towards front of cart. Passenger side-- two batteries- front one - positive toward middle, back one negative toward middle of cart. Connect main negative to drivers side and main positive to passenger side- rest of them are connected in series( neg to pos to neg). The newer wiring only has two batteries that are switched- The main positive and the main negative batteries are reversed but the main cables are connected differently, you can tell by looking at what posts are not connected after wiring them in series. They will be the back ones on each side.

Holden Captiva. The battery appears to be flat as when I go to turn it over it just makes a clicking noise. Am I able to jump start the Captiva with my little Nissan pulsar?

Hi Leana a couple of things spring to mind, Yes it could be a matter of a flat battery. You haven't mentioned what year or if it's petrol or diesel.if it's petrol as long as the second car battery is good should be ok. If it's diesel it may struggle but only by trying will you know. However i would advise leads used should be fitted with a surge device to protect all on board computers (ECUs).Connect good battery negative lead to neg batt terminal & Positive lead to poss terminal, on poor battery positive lead to pos terminal on batt and negative lead to a good earth point on 'engine' Be very careful not to reverse any polarities or touch the two cables together. Depending on year of vehicle if series 2 diesel have come across starter motor main cable or alternator main cable or both where the securing nut has come loose damaging starter and loom and alternater wire. This also creates either a clicking noise and or a no start. advise Holden dealer repair.Good luck.

Troubleshooting for laverda motorcycles

Did your bike quit whilst it was running, or is the problem that it won't turn over on the starter when you try to start it?Position 1 of the ignition switch should allow the starter to be operated and the engine to fire up. Position 2 is for parking lights only. The ignition switch can suffer poor internal contacts with age. It may have been replaced with the wrong type of switch if you say it turns over in position 2. Have you checked the fuses? If they are OK, try bypassing the ignition switch completely. If you are running the original ignition, the control box under the tank can fail. Check that there is a spark on all three plugs. THEY ALL MUST BE KEPT EARTHED when turning the engine over to avoid destroying the ignition module.

1998 problems with laverda 750s why does my bike not start first time and keeps cutting out, what are the most common problems with this model and how do i fix it

The most common complaints are the poor gas mileage, weak electric starter, not as fast off the line as the Japanese bikes, slower top end speed, top heavy and not a good commuter bike. Additionally, dealers are few and far between. Install new spark plugs, clean the air filter, clean or at least drain the carbs to remove any water in the float bowls. Do a compression check to see if the valves need to be re-seated.

Gauge showing low output alt only 1yr old wondering if it could be regulator or batt or wiring

if you have access to a digital multimeter, connect the meter (set to volts) across positive and neg. terminal of the battery, should read roughly 12.6 volts, close to 10 volts, battery may be going out, also test the alt output, disconnect neg term and place negative lead to battery neg post and positive lead to neg battery cable (make sure meter is set to amps) should read near the rating, if both those, then you'd want to do a resistance test, (set meter to Ohms) disconnect battery and connect meter neg to either pos cable terminal or where the pos cable connects to the alt and connect positive lead to opposite of neg, should read next to 0, the check resistance of the ground by connecting meter between batt neg cable and body of alt.

Slides not working nor the power jack

Did you wire them in circuit? (hot lead to positive on 1st batt, which jumps to the neg on 2nd batt, and neg lead going to neg post on 1st batt, then to positive on 2nd batt) That would be for a 24v system, for a 36v you would continue to the opposite posts again.

Installing new radio in a 2003 Ford F-150

Ok try this link :

TIP: the best way to test speaker wires to be sure is with a small battery (triple AAA or double AA should be fine or 9v is easiest) and touch the positive and neg terminals of the batt to the speaker wires and you should hear a popping sound in the speaker and to determine which wire is positive and neg just look at the speaker and if it moves outward when you touch the wires to the batt then the polarity is correct if it goes inward than it is backwards.

Hope this information helps
