Ring end gap, the space between the ring ends when its in the cylinder. Get a good manual if you are doing the work yourself, as you will need specifications. Any scratches on the piston or cylinder wall also is bad news. Damage on the exhaust side is usually due to excessive heat, and on the intake is from dirt. (Air filter)
