1 Answer

Fuel Problem I have a 1988 Kawaski Ninja 600r and I have already rebuilt the carbs but for some reason it is still not firing up if you spray starter fluid through air box it starts right up but with gas it will not start. What could be wrong?

If your compression is good on ALL cylinders, you still have a carb issue. You have to be extremely thorough when "rebuilding" or cleaning out. There is small holes on the sides of most pilot jets that a lot of people overlook.

88 ninja firing on all four cylinders but blowing ftre out of carburetors

First thing to do is make sure your intake and exhaust valves are adjusted to specs as this can cause popping from the carburetors and cause major engine damage if not corrected. As far as the bike not starting with the carbs on, make sure that they are clean. If any of the tiny fuel tubes, jets, emulsifiers or passages are gummed up or clogged with debris or fuel varnish, this can cause the engine to not start. If they have been sitting for a while with fuel in them you will need to disassemble them and clean them with a good carb dip or ultrasonic cleaner. A simple Google search will give you many pages on how to clean carbs properly. There are also reputable businesses and individuals that can perform this service for you if you would rather not deal with it yourself.

Got a1996 yamaha yzf 600 and it starts but its not getting gas so it shuts off new carb all the way thru

Hi, Ktatejr86 and the usual suspects are:
1. Fuel cap or fuel tank is not venting properly.
2. Fuel filter clogged.
3. Fuel line pinched or kinked.
4. Float needle and seat sticking.
5. Float level too low.
6. Carburetor bowl vent line clogged/blocked/pinched.
7. Idle adjusting screw set too low.
8. Air/fuel mixture screw set too lean.
9. Idle port, transfer ports, slow air jet clogged.
10. Slow fuel jet clogged.
11. Faulty fuel pump.

The only thing left is the carb, Have it rebuilt, sounds like a needle valve or the float is sticking. Check the choke, make sure it's open first before having it rebuilt

Crank no start yzf 600r

Inject some carb cleaner spray through the opened air filter while cranking.
Spark plugs work? timing on the camshafts ok?
Crank it without turning the throttle on.
Pull the choke cable if you need to.
It should fire up without throttle.
Use the carb cleaner spray to help it (don't spray too much.It will backfire from the carbs).

Won't start up

Check to make sure you are getting fuel pressure. Can you hear the fuel pump come on? Will it start with carb cleaner being sprayed in the carb (watch for back fire)? If it will start with carb spray and you can not hear the pump its the pump. Try to get it to go like a old stuck starter. Have someone turn the key and use your fist to bang the fuel tank sometimes that will get it to go. Sounds like you need a pump.
