Husqvarna TE450 bogging

If I maintain a cruising speed it feels like the bike is bogging until I blip the throttle every few minutes.

SOURCE: bike bogs for second then revs when throttling

Pull the slide out of the carb then remove the jet needle and move the clip one notch lower on the needle.

SOURCE: Bogging engine 3400-4000 RPM under full throttle.

Sounds like one of the intermittant jets is clogged. Need to clean the carbs.

Sounds like a carby jetting issue. Sounds like she's running lean above idle, after you zero the enrichener. Suggest adjusting the pilot air screw ( air mixture screw) under carby. You need to remove a blanking cap to do this. See eg Buzz Buzzelli's book for this, or a Sportster forum. I'd back it out to 3-3.5 turns, very gently by 1/4 turns till she runs well. Good Luck.

sounds like fuel problem ! what bike have you got and is it carb or injectors , is it elec fuel pump or gravity fed and how old is the fuel in the tank ?

Bike jumps when on release of clutch in first gear and stalls


The clutch plates are probably rusted. I ride the bike with the clutch lever pulled in until very warmed up and keep blipping the throttle at low speeds in first gear this sometimes releases the stuck clutch.

Check intake air temperature sensor or MAF sensor. Also check MAP sensor and replace if necessary.

2008 Husqvarna TE 450 will not stay running


Hi, Lummy and the usual suspects are:
1. Severely discharged or a damaged battery must have 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a preliminary reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage the battery is faulty and must be replaced, AGM batteries fail in this scenario more so than lead acid batteries.
2. Faulty alternator/generator and or voltage regulator.
3. Loose or corroded battery terminals and or cables especially the "NEGATIVE" cable, look for loose, corroded, or broken connectors inside the cable harness at "BOTH" ends.
4. Faulty main circuit breaker or ignition switch, check for loose connections and continuity.
5. Faulty system and or ignition relay, check for continuity.
6. Faulty ignition coil, ignition/electronic module.
7. Faulty CKP, CPS, CMP, MAP, TPS, or BAS sensor, corroded, loose or broken wire connector pins/sockets.
8. Throttle cables and or idle speed improperly adjusted hot idle speed should be 950 RPM to 1000 RPM.
9. Faulty neutral, side stand or clutch lever safety switch.
10. Fuel tank empty
11. Fuel tank contaminated with ethanol sludge.
12. Water or dirt in the fuel system, or clogged filter.
13. Restricted, blocked or kinked fuel line.
14. Faulty fuel pump.
15. Faulty pressure regulator.
16. Faulty or clogged fuel injectors.
17. Lean angle switch is faulty or needs adjustment.

Bike surges at all speeds, not sure if its a fuel issus or a clutch issue


Surging is usually a fuel problem. To prove it, put the bike in one gear lower than the top gear. You didn't say what year or model bike you have. If it's a five speed, put the transmission in fourth gear. Do a full throttle roll-on acceleration with the transmission in that gear on a long uphill grade. If the engine RPM's climbs suddenly and drastically without the speed of the bike doing the same, it's a clutch slipping problem. More than likely, you are feeling the surge due to a lean fuel air mixture. This makes it very difficult to maintain a steady cruising speed in all gears.

When I first start my 99 electra glide classic, it idles at about 1k. If I then blip the throttle, the idle drops to about 400 rpm. It remains there until I ride for about 20 minutes. Then it stays at...


If your bike is fuel injected, this is typical. What is happening is the fast idle is keeping your engine running until you blip the trottle. When you do this, the fast idle relaeses the idle speed control. Once the engine gets to full operating temp, the idle speed is correct.
