How to remove air pockets in the cooling system.

When you have air in your cooling system, check for leaking gaskets. Most of the time the head gasket is leaking. and it is just a matter of time the whole gasket blows out. It will cost you because the engine needs revision, once the head gasket blows. Don't drive till a tech has checked your engine.

Labor time head gasket

it is not only the replacement of the gasket, they most of the time need to flatten the head. That will cost. If the head is not flat, you will most likely blow out the next gasket to, within a few miles.

1987 toyota pickup with 22r keeps blowing head gasket

Your head bolts are stretched, when it got hot it weakened the metal in the bolts which means that the bolts cannot hold the needed tension on the head. Replace the bolts and you will stop blowing head gaskets. Also use Genuine Toyota head gasket, It will be a bit dearer but they are much better than aftermarket options.

Sounds to me like the head gasket is blown, but there may be sealant in the system which is making it intermittently leak antifreeze into the cylinders.

A bad cylinder head gasket will also cause a compromise in compression, which will cause a lack of power.

Time to overhaul or replace the engine's head gasket, or replace the engine with one that doesn't have a blown head gasket.

Good luck on this repair.

hi,sounds like you have answered your question, the symptoms you describe indicate a blwn head gasket or a crack in the head but more likely a head gasket, you will need to disassemble the top end and investigate,if you keep using the bike in its current condition it will get worse and the engine will fail then it will be really expensive repair rather than a moderate repair for the head gasket..hope this helps..cheers ian

We have a 1998 cadillac deville and sometimes the ac will blow through the vents normally and then unexpectdly they will start to blow air through the vents ontop of the dashboard. Also, when the coolent...

When the cool air ceases, does any air blow? If your air flow ceases (the cooling fans run the entire time the A/C runs normally), your cooling fans might also be malfunctioning. How many times has your car overheated since the September 2008 head gasket replacement? Repeated overheating will dramaticly shorten the lifespan of a head gasket (if you and/or your husband know your way around cars, the head gasket replacement isn't terribly difficult, just takes ALOT of time- you can send an email to maintjoseph -no space between the name and the @ sign- and I'll help guide you through the head gasket replacement). I had to replace both gaskets and a head on my 1999 Taurus with a Vulcan engine and have had continuing problems with the cooling system. Your computer might also be acting up if you're noticing other driveablility problems.
