Question about 2001 Suzuki GSX 750 F (Katana)

1 Answer

I have a suzuki katana that won't go above 60 mph it sat around for a while what can i do to find the problem. It runs smooth till that point it tops at 55-60 and seems to growl at me. It also has stalled and shut off while i was driving. I manage to restart it while moving but need to know how to fix.

My quad sat for about a year and would not start as I figured. I cleaned the Carb and it started up no problem.

If you left it parked for a year with gas containing any ethanol at all then I would check things like your fuel filter because it might be plugged as well. Ethanol blended fuel is a curse if you leave it dormant for a long period of time.

1996 suzuki katana not staying on after starting

If it has been sat with fuel in it for more than about 9 months, the problem is most likely to be the carbs. When fuel evaporates it leaves a gummy deposit in the float bowl. The first start can allow this to get in to the jets and cause blockages.

Ok, check breather hoses and vac pipes are on tight and not cracked and drawing in air. do you have wd40? Little trick is to spray around the inlet manifold rubbers, if engine smoothes out or revs slightly then this could be an indication of leaking manifold gaskets. taking note of where you spray it and any engine change can direct you to the problem.

#2 cylinder not burning on '88 Katana

looks like your carbs need to come apart and be cleaned.
also replace the hoses so you wont have any vacuume or fuel leaks.
