IF U REMOVE THE CATS THE BIKE WILL BE MUCH LOUDER, U WILL LOOSE NO HORSEPOWER BY DOING THIS, IT WILL NOT HARM THE ENGINE IN ANYWAY, CATALYTIC CONVERTERS ARE PASSIVE POLLUTION CONTROL DEVICES, THE HYDROCARBONS AND CARBON MONOXIDE WILL INCREASE AT THE EXHAUST AND THAT IS IT, THIS POLLUTES THE AIR WE ALL BREATH, SO THE DECISION IS YOURS., MY EXPERIENCE? 35 YEARS AS A TECH..

have seen this done on other large displacement bikes, they sounded ok to me, but the louder exhaust system is something that tired me on more than 500 mile trips, so i got away from it, have stuck with stock ever since

if i do this is there 02 sensors that i need to plug?

  • yadayada

yes it is a one piece exhaust system, best thing to do is have a custom muffler shop do the job, but keep the cats

2005 Honda GL 1800 Gold Wing ticking sound

Hi, Anonymous I would love to help you with your engine or chassis noise but I just loaned my brand new pair of listening ears to your local dealer's chief technician so he could take your bike for a test ride and give you his professional opinion and estimate about your noise and repair cost. If you are a little short on "DRACHMA" and a Dealership is not on your list of fun places to visit then perhaps the list below will help soothe your worried mind so you can make an informed decision.

07 1800 goldwing clutch, have changed fluid, changed oil & filter as I had clutch slip now the clutch has gone completly only done 18,460 mls any clues

if you do not ride it that much it may be sticky clutch plates
if so you need to remove your clutch plates and clean them up you can check them all while your doing it
but it sounds to me like the clutch has gone and needs replacing
do it yourself if you are confident enough
can be quite a complicated job
if you are not confident you will have to put it in a shop

My 1991 interstate front end wobbles when I apply the rear brake, it goes away a little when I apply the front brake.

sounds like weak fork springs go to progressive springs and do the fork seals at the same time and that should stop the wobble, also check your local bike shop to see if the wheel is out of balance

How often do you ajust values on 1800 honda gold wing

The manual says to ckeck them every 32k. However I checked mine at 50k and no service was needed. There was not enough excess clearance to add a minimum shim. I will check again at about 80k. Unless gas mileage goes down or the vave train gets noisy I would not worry about it too much.

Would love to get the Honda 1800 Goldwing.........

you can go with a thinner but also make sure the new seat is more narrow in the front of the seat this allows your legs to reach the ground eaisier.... also on that model on the left lower of the fairing you can push a button to adjust the rear suspension...also upon riding the gold wing handles much "lighter" once rolling...i have a 2001 and love the handling good luck

1. CHECK THE MAIN FUSEAND FI INGN FUSE IF OK THEN GO TO 2.
2. MAKE SURE ENGINE STOP SWITCH IS NOT ON.
3.MAKE SURE THAT FI RELAY IS CLOSING. TURN ON KEY SWITCH AND THE FI LIGHT SHOULD COME ON. THEN CHECK TO SEE IF 12VOLTS IS AT RED/WHITE WIRE COMING FROM RELAY ( RELAY IS UNDER THE SEAT)
NOW IF THIS SO YOU SHOULD HAVE SPARK AT THE PLUGS. IF NOT SOMETHING IS SHORTING THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE. MAKE SURE THE BIKE IS IN NEUTRAL
AND THE IGNITION PULSE GENERATOR IS GOOD
