How to adjust clutch cable

I don't think there is an adjustment at the clutch handle. If your trying to bleed the clutch (being hydraulic) it is on the side of the engine left side as your sitting on the bike / get a hose and a bottle and attach to the bleeder valve on the clutch slave cylinder / remove clutch reservoir cover and have a towel covering all and any paint (be very careful brake fluid will eat paint if left on the paint for too long) attach hose to bleeder valve and the other end of the hose in the bottle/ loosen the valve at this point let gravity do the work/ DO NOT LET THE RESERVOIR GET LOW ON FLUID IF AIR GETS IN THE LINE IT IS VERY HARD TO REMOVE. If your feeling bold you can pull in the clutch handle and close the valve then let go of the handle and reopen the valve pull the clutch handle and close the valve repeat repeat and so on until you have flushed about a 12 oz bottle of fluid through the system, when done close all valve and top off fluid to proper level ( should be a high level mark on the reservoir) reinstall cap and check lever feel . If it is a cable there should be an adjustment in the cable itself or on the engine. the adjustment should be a 10mm or 12mm sized wrench loosen and lengthen the cable to take any slack, you can also adjust the clutch lever this way. Let me know if this helps or if there is a separate concern.

I have a 97 gixxer 750 i recently bought. i got it home and rode it 100' up the rd and then back. shut the bike off and went to hop on 10 mins later and have 0 clutch.not even when bike is off? took...

The older GXR's were notorious for the clutch cable simply slipping off. It is a simple mechanism that controls the clutch and usually the little "nub" slipped out of the holder. Think of the way a bicycle brake handle is attached to the wire.

How to adjust a 9460897 mtd snow blower auger clutch cable.

On the handle end (usually) of the cable is a curved metal connector. Attached to the connector is a threaded rod with a nut. Attach a pair of pliers to the threaded cylinder that the threaded rod goes into. Loosen the nut. Turn the threaded cylinder into the threaded rod to tighten or out to loosen. When you have the correct adjustment, tighten the nut back down onto the cylinder. To be correctly adjusted, pull the cover off the auger belt and push down on the handle. The spring attached to the cable at the pulley end should stretch out when the handle is fully depressed. Spring tension keeps the belt tight. iaff801.jpg

When i pull clutch lever in the starter engages even if the on off switch is off

You have the clutch protection overide switch, on the clutch lever, wired up to the start button.
Check your wiring.

I have an Ariens snow throw and the dual handle interlock does not function. The attachment clutch does not stay engaged when the traction clutch is engaged. Thanks

I have seen two simple mechanical problems that I suggest you check first.
One, there is a little tab on one of the handles that does the mechanical interlocking. This tab sometimes bends. Look carefully at the handle pivot area and check this out. If it is bent fix it with a pliers. Sometime that tab breaks off and you will have to replace the handle.
Second, The handle itself comes loose. The pins holding the handle on come loose causing it to not engage that little tab. Sometimes the handle will come loose. Replace the pins and locking pins as needed.

Dot 3/4 brake fluid is added to the clutch master cylinder on the left handle bar. The left (clutch) handle bar lever is attached to the clutch master cylinder. To add fluid you will have to remove the phillips screws (4 x 12 oval screws) holding the cover on. Be sure to lay plastic over the motorcycle (with a towel or rags over that) to protect the bikes plastic and paint from any DOT 3/4 fluid you may spill during the filling or bleeding process. Caution: brake fluid will brittle and crack expensive Honda plastic.

Briggs & Stratton wiring, can it handle an electric clutch?

You might have a capacitor in line with the clutch motor that requires feed from the engine to allow the clutch to engage. I think the red lead is charging current to the battery plus post. Get yourself a 270962 repair manual and it will show you how to wire these things.

Chain came off

John you still do not give me a model number (358, 450, 350). Some Husqvarna have the chain brake handle as part of the clutch cover some do not.

If the handle is attached do this.

Please follow this link,

If you do not have a vise a large C clamp to a work surface might work, you may still need a block or two of wood.

If the handle remains on the saw remove and secure the clutch cover as above like this:

d0ebfb7.jpg Use a pair of pliers or a crescent and rotate the spoked part CW until it latches. This one is latched.

If you have more questions or need additional help please reply below and I will get back to you. Thank you for using FixYa and Good Luck. HTH
