Has anyone blown a rod berring? did the oil light come on?

The oil light is controlled by the oil pressure switch which indicates the oil pressure is too low.and bearings will fail pluss excess heat in engine ,sorry but find why pressure dropped before rebuilding engine

I have very low oil pressure on my bmw R 65,the oil lite comes on when oil is a bit warm?

Dear Bryan
Some of the reasons are:
1) An engine that is just plain worn out. If bearings are loose, each loose bearing will drop the oil pressure a little bit, as it is "hemorrhaging" the pressure away.
I should not suspect this is your problem, but you did not indicate your mileage, or why you installed rod bearings.
2) a plugged oil pump pick-up screen.
3) a worn or worn-out oil pump. See second paragraph under # 1.
I have blown 2 engines with oil pump problems.
One, the pump was worn out, one other one the pump was a bad casting, defective from the factory.
If you should choose not to install an oil pressure gauge on your car, I should suggest you have your oil pressure tested, as the oil lights are not accurate always.

Lifter noise after it worms up. put in new oil pump new berring mane and rod new oil filter new oil .no help!

Did you check the oil pressure with a gauge after the repairs, and did you replace the lifters ?
The lifters could have been the original problem if they were making noise before the repairs.

I can't find any parts diagrams for a DT360, and it has been 35 years since I worked on a DT360 at LYNN'S YAMAHA, DM Iowa, but as I recall there IS a ball bearing in the assembly. It went in right before the pushrod. The diagram below is for a 1978 DT400. I am pretty sure your 360 has the same clutch assembly as the 400. The ball bearing would not have worn down. A prior owner leaving it out is far more likely. Please take a moment and rate my answer. Thanks. tombones49_72.gif

Rear outer berring failed have removed axils cannot get berring out. using slide hammer and heating up outer axil what else is there to try ?

you can use a long rod or pipe inserted from the opposite side to try and drive the bearing out. Make sure what ever you use is clean so you do not get dirt/rust in the other bearing. Better yet replace both bearings and both seals while you have the cover off and the axles out.

make sure the wheel hub surfaces are clean and free of rust both in front of and behind the rotors. also check that your rear brake adjusters are working correctly. also check wheel berring, balljoint and tierod ends for play. theres should be no play and berring should spin free of noise.

I'd feel best if you can find a reputable mec and have it looked at. There are a mess of things that can make loud noise. You could have anything from a bad berring to a blown engine. When your'e on the road remember go to someone who is reccomended or a national chain or dealer..

The engine is making a really loud knocking noise and the oil light is on. it also smells like something is burning or running hot

Doesn't sound good. Check oil level. Also check for metal in the oil once you pull the dipstick. A loud knocking noise is a sign of a blown engine may be you spun a rod in which case you would need engine replacement or rebuild

Engine cranks slowly after overhaul

the only thing i can think of is
1. did you check the journal clearance to the main and rod caps? if this isnt within specs could be too tight.
2. did you put the rod caps and main berring caps on the same way you took them did you mark every thing 1 for #1 2 for #2 ect. if you installed the berring caps the oppsite way or didnt keep them in order some thing could be out of round causing tightness.
3. the same goes for pistons.......the mark should be pointing front for all. (ch approiate engine rebuild for info)
i would recomend trying to remove all spark plugs and try to turn the engine by hand( DO NOT TURN IT BACKWARDS>see which way the starter turns the motor) feel how it turns. if its hard then easy some thing is out of round poss installed wrong. personally id take down the pan and check the install. also take valve covers off ck the clearence of rocker arms. check your pushrods valve motion ect. you might also might want to break it down before you do some expensive damage.
tip.....if you didnt mark the rods and main berring caps and might have put them together incorrectly, remove the berrings and look at the honing marks. with patience and a good light you can see if they are lined up(cap and block for mains and cap and rod for connecting rods.) ie the cross marks line up.
