Well, if the Batt don't hold charge then check the regulator on the bike with an Ohmmeter you can buy one at an Auto parts shop....motor running you should see 14.5 V if not then the Reg is out!!!
I think you're trying to breathe life into a dead horse. Take the battery out of the bike and take it to an automotive parts house. Ask them to test the battery. They'll usually do it for no charge.
Whenever a battery goes dead, it damages the battery but building up sulfides in the bottom of the case. Also. a dead battery will freeze forcing the plates on the inside to come into contact with each other. When this happens, the battery is shorted internally. You jump start the bike and the bike will run off the alternator but the battery will not accept a charge. If the battery is over two years old, it probably needs replacing anyway. Motorcycle batteries don't last like car batteries. The vibration is the culprit.
It sounds like you damaged the TSSM (Turn Signal Security Module). It also contains a bank angle sensor that shuts the bike down if it is dropped. It should have reset but it might have been damaged.
if bike left in cold winter battery will freeze and need replacing, batteries should be brought in to house over winter if bike left in storage. the acid is a liquid and will freeze just like ice
try cleaning the battery terminals, check the battery voltage when you hit the starter, If you run it too long and it isnt charging a good battery you can damage the regulator again, same if you jump it off a car battery, it can cause damage
you need to get a battery tender, and when you put your new battery in it has connections that will stay on your battery and you just plug it in after you are done riding and cleaning her. oh one more thing when you get a new battery you need to charge it for 8 to 12 hours before using it, they are not like a car battery buy it, put it in, and go, you have to charge them up first. The tender should keep you battery charge all winter long. I hope this helps you. One more thing, 749's do not like weak batteries as you have found out. Buy a new one, install a tender and and use it, the battery will last much longer.
