SOURCE: CARB PROBLEMS TTR 125 06 Reg

Hi,

Offhand, fuel overflow could be brought about by:

  • misadjusted/punctured float; and/or
  • dirt/sand lodged in the fuel inlet valve. Often this fuel inlet valve is a pin with one end pointed (sometimes rubber) and is controlled by the float.
A seized starter plunger would have to be replaced. This problem could have been brought about by:
  • short/jumping contacts of the starter switch;
  • sticking/corroded terminals/contactors of the starting relay.
Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

If it is possible to start at all. Fresh fuel fresh engine oil good battery. You may have the following problems; Corroded and blocked carburetor fuel system, bad wire connections piston ring set up.... I hope it was kept indoors and the fuel was drained out before it was left sitting. Good luck, they are nice bikes.

SOURCE: 94 yamaha 535 virago sounds fine, just wont start

Check to make sure your getting gas by pulling off the hose, if no gas comes out your petcock is clogged. If this is the case blow air up into the hose, and if gas comes out now your tank has to be cleaned out.

SOURCE: 95' Yamaha Virago 535 will start but will not stay

Did you try to increase the idling adjustment screw?
Check the spark plugs for its condition and thn reset the air-mixture screw.
Standard procedure for setting air-mixture screw...tight it all the way in, taking care to not over tighten or the tip of the screw may be damaged, thn turn outwards 2 & half to 3 turns, start your bike's engine ,run it to normal temp. and the reset the screw + - alittle either way and you should notice the difference in the idling and all.
Its better too, to also check the valve clearance !
Hope this helps!

SOURCE: remove the carbs from virago 535

If your just interested in seeing if the bleed tube is clogged. you can remove the float bowls from the left side of the bike without taking out the whole carb.

Hi I have petrol leaking from my Yamaha virago 535 via bottom of air intake when petrol pump kicks in after turning key . can you help please

If petrol leaking from bottom of air intake if air intake is connected
to carberator most likely the float needle jet is not seating properly . Try replacing needle jet it is connect under the floats. Motorcycle will still run but fuel will leak out carberator. Try

1985 Virago 1000 just had Carbs rebuild because I have alot of gas pouring out front cylinder pipe it not firing on front cylinder got Carbs back rebuilt put them on and still have same problems any ideas

Sounds like you still have an issue wit the carbthat feeds the front cylinder. (A sticking float, or dirt in the needle will allow fuel to keep running)

My Virago XV535 was in winter storage and now the front cylinder only fires up on a higher rev than idle. With choke on, it contunues to run, but without it stalls. Back cylinder operates normal....

sounds like a pilot jet problem. Pilot jet runs first 1/4 of throttle opening, main jet the other 3/4. Take out pilot jet (usually the smaller one next to the bigger main jet) and leave it in a cup of neat petrol overnight. By morning it should be ok.

Yamaha 535 stalling out and losing power after running for a bit

Sounds like a fueling problem either water in the carbs or the fuel flow from the tap is insufficient. If there is a vacuum pipe it may have been dislodged or holed.
