I assume you have the D1E41QMB02 engine. The exhaust usually comes out of the back of the motor and makes a quick S turn. This is a single speed motor. It smokes a lot, takes forever to get to about 5-10 mph, but then usually takes off ok, but maxes out around 25-30mph. If you are more than 200lbs, forget it. It is the slowest scooter motor around. These motors are prone to exhaust leaks. As for the acceleration issue, my guess would have been the exhaust. They are prone to filling up with oil because they run extremely rich with oil. So much so that it often drips out of the back of the motor when running. You could check your spark plug, clean the carb, or see if you have a CDI/Coil problem. You could also need a new clutch inside the tranny. I haven't worked on one of these in years since they haven't been imported since 2005 because they can't pass 2006 US emissions. I think it took 10w40 or 90 wt gear oil in the tranny. Check the level. When you changed the engine, did they make sure the oil pump was connected properly or are you using premix? The oil pump is on the rear wheel under a plastic cap on the transmission side. I believe it only pumps oil when the rear wheel is spinning. If you need any parts, I may still be able to get them for that motor. www.solanocycle.com
As the previous person also mentioned, make sure your air filter isn't saturated with oil/gas. You can also check your compression. It may be low, but I doubt it with it being a new motor.
I'm kinda having the same issue with my geely 50QT-15 scooter but mine starts fine but just don't have much power top end. Yes I have oil dripping from exhaust when running. But it just don't pull my 220lb up a slight hill, I have 98 pounds of compression. I'm stumped! ??
