I assume you have the D1E41QMB02 engine. The exhaust usually comes out of the back of the motor and makes a quick S turn. This is a single speed motor. It smokes a lot, takes forever to get to about 5-10 mph, but then usually takes off ok, but maxes out around 25-30mph. If you are more than 200lbs, forget it. It is the slowest scooter motor around. These motors are prone to exhaust leaks. As for the acceleration issue, my guess would have been the exhaust. They are prone to filling up with oil because they run extremely rich with oil. So much so that it often drips out of the back of the motor when running. You could check your spark plug, clean the carb, or see if you have a CDI/Coil problem. You could also need a new clutch inside the tranny. I haven't worked on one of these in years since they haven't been imported since 2005 because they can't pass 2006 US emissions. I think it took 10w40 or 90 wt gear oil in the tranny. Check the level. When you changed the engine, did they make sure the oil pump was connected properly or are you using premix? The oil pump is on the rear wheel under a plastic cap on the transmission side. I believe it only pumps oil when the rear wheel is spinning. If you need any parts, I may still be able to get them for that motor. www.solanocycle.com

As the previous person also mentioned, make sure your air filter isn't saturated with oil/gas. You can also check your compression. It may be low, but I doubt it with it being a new motor.

I'm kinda having the same issue with my geely 50QT-15 scooter but mine starts fine but just don't have much power top end. Yes I have oil dripping from exhaust when running. But it just don't pull my 220lb up a slight hill, I have 98 pounds of compression. I'm stumped! ??

What causes the geely mk 1.5 loose power when going up a hill?

The things that might be or are robbing your car of power are the same things that might affect any car and only thoroughly investigating the symptoms will reveal the cause.

It is very rare a car loses power uphill, though it is theoretically possible, most likely the engine power is low all the time and it is when climbing a hill the fact reveals itself.

The fault could be anything from low fuel pressures to a strangled exhaust...

Problem with Geely 50cc scooter's alternator? Please help!

If you have a friend who wears a hearing aid with a telephone pickup coil, the test is very easy. Have your friend switch the hearing aid to the telephone position, then listen to the engine while it is idling with the clutch disengaged. Accelerate the engine and let it return to idle. Your friend should hear a rapid ticking noise from the spark plug and a whine from the alternator that goes up in pitch when the engine runs faster. If he hears the ticking but doesn't hear the whine even at low speed, have him listen closer to the battery or alternator. If he still doesn't hear it, the alternator is probably not working at all. (I use this technique quite often to find ignition or alternator faults.)

If you have a voltmeter, measure the battery voltage when the scooter is not running. It should be at least 11.8 Volts. Start the scooter, and with the clutch disengaged, speed up the engine while monitoring the battery voltage. It should increase with engine speed, up to 14 Volts. (Do not run the engine for a long time at high speed with the clutch disengaged. Lack of cooling airflow or overspeeding may damage the engine.) Alternatively, turn on the headlight and see if it gets brighter with increased engine speed. If the battery voltage stays low and the headlight doesn't work or is dim at any speed, the alternator is bad.

The usual failure modes causing low or no output are a faulty regulator, worn brushes, or failed rectifier module. It is sometimes cheaper to repair the alternator than to replace it, if you know how to take it apart and put it back together. (The biggest trick is to use the brush access holes to pin the brushes away from the commutator during assembly; once everything is together, remove the pins to let the brushes contact the commutator. I use a pair of small nails for the pins.) You may be able to purchase a rebuild kit from an automotive or motorcycle parts store.

Note: if most of your scooter operation is at low engine speed, the alternator may not turn fast enough to fully charge the battery. If it is not practical to occasionally run at a higher speed, you may need to obtain a 12 V battery charger (at least 1.5 A output) to fully charge the battery when the scooter is at home. Also, if you receive an empty new battery and have to pour the acid in to use it, follow the directions and let the battery sit for several hours before charging it, then install it. If you don't do this, the new battery won't last very long.

Geely Scooter

I believe that is the alarm telling you to add more oil to the resevior. I have a 2003 geely as well, and my owner's manual says there is an alarm for when the oil is low. Use a good 2 cycle injector oil from a motorcycle shop to get the best performance and avoid problems.

Hope it helps,
Criss
